Anyone else on here had any problems with long tails?

I had a nightmare last summer when one( could have been a lot more for all I know) got under my sub floor.

Gnawed through the floorboards behind the kick boards in the kitchen in three different places.

Only time I saw the little bastard was when I went into the kitchen to get a can of Yuri Geller whilst MOTD was on and there he was, strolling towards me in the kitchen.
I could hear him every night though, scurrying under the floorboards in my bedroom and in the wall cavities.

The lengths I had to go through to get rid of them was ridiculous and cost me best part of a grand.

It’s been 7 months since I overcame my foe but I’m still paranoid, every noise I hear in the house has me questioning whether Roland and his clan are back.

I pulled down my garden shed last week because I thought I had some living under there.

    Absolute ****s.

Had a mouse problem, catching 3 or 4 a day sometimes. Took me 6 years to find out where they were getting in. Blob of concrete in the hole in the wall, 5 minutes, job done!

I live in 3rd floor flat of a 4 floor block . Infrequently , I wonder , If they're able or of Want to climb so high. Seemingly , not as I've been here 9 years & not a peep.
Thou in the Dolav waste areas at work , Our waste bins are pushed up against a chain link fence and I brought a Dolav in to the factory , and , a Rat had hidden itself inside on the plastic slat , that allows a hand truck to jack it up , Massive Fooker ran across the factory floor , sending production management into meltdown.

    Hate the Vermin.

Had to have a resin sleeve inserted into my drain ( that sounds a bit painful) to cover a redundant down pipe from where an extension was built on the east wing. It was the most likely entry point for rattus rattus. That cost me nearly £550.

With the pest control bloke coming every week for 2 months and the stuff I bought from B and Q it came to over £900.

I have to admit he was a good looking chap, jet black and had an air of mischief about him. I’m talking about the rat and not the pest control bloke.

In fact the other theory in how rat boy got into the house was up the down pipe of my garage.

Once in the gutter he’s through the eaves and you’re ****ed.

Love rats. Here's a trick. Sit in a room the rat frequents, rub some chocolate on your nutsack, switch out the lights, close your eyes and sit deathly still for the night.

    You can thank me later

You can kill them all day long but until you locate the entry point and block it you’re ****ed.

    FACT.

Or, like most normal people, humanely booby trap it. Then you can bring them in for chocolate.

I was thinking of getting one of those but you have to take the rat some distance away prior to release, otherwise it just comes running back.

I thought that if I walked around the village with a rat in a cage, en route to freeing it I’d look mental.

Alternatively the risk of it escaping and running around my car should I decide to drive it to freedom was too great. Imagine pulling down your sun visor and a big buck rat dropping on your lap whilst doing 70mph on the M62?

    They have to die.

They are creatures of habit, so unless you have stopped them getting under your house - they will more than likely follow the very same path.

I know because we had the same issue with the little ****ers 11 years ago.

    Bastard mouse ate my hammock.

I'd wrapped it up in it's carrysac and put it in the shed during the not suitable for garden lounging months.

First sunny day I get the frame out, set it up, then pull said hammock - which was ethically weaved by Mexican peasants by the way - out only to discover that Brer Mouse had overwintered in Ernie's sac, knawing the nylon threads into tiny scraps, having turned it into a freeloaded rodent condo.

And then buggered off without paying any rent or nothing.

    Droppings everywhere.

They're self - serving, selfish scumbags, they really are.

    I know mate.

I live in a detached house so it was always likely to be a breach in the drain system.

I’m not cursing myself but it’s been 7 months now so it’s looking like we got the offending rat and have blocked the entry point.

I had to go into the roof space of my kitchen extension( removing the roof tiles, felt and all) to locate his rat run and lay blocks of poison.

Go back a week later and check the poison had gone.

He’d eaten trays of the grain poison like they were smarties

We're in a barn conversion, which before being a habitat it was a social gathering place for the long tailed little ****ers. It took years to finally stop the ****ers getting in. They chewed through cables, plastic plumbing pipes for water supply- you name it those bastards chewed it. Also, once they've caused a totally unacceptable level of damage - you're not covered by house and contents insurance. In the very small print - on page 723 vermin or rodent damage is not covered.

    I feel your pain.
