Christ, I didn't know he was that old. Rats was pretty good, as were a few others he wrote. Some of it was pish though.
Nobody True is Herbert's finest work. The Fluke is pretty good too. His last offering was poor. He must have already been ill when he wrote it. Sad news, though.
Used to read his books back in the day. Read The Rats on a train journey from London to Liverpool in one go, great stuff. Having said that I've not read one of his books for over 10 years. Always used to read pulp horror like Herbert, Robert McCammon, Graham Masterton, Shaun Hutson, Dean Koontz and the like. Other books are available.
