So after possibly the best loss i've ever witnessed. (weird typing that) What are your ratings out of ten for the players. Davis - 4 - I was confident about him going into the match but now I'm not so sure, however he saved a penalty and had some other okay moments against a quality strike force. Clyne - 8 - We conceded 3 goals so he couldn't have got higher but I thought he was fantastic both offensively and defensively looks a quality addition. Hooiveld - 6 - Looked a little shakey but I think that was more down to getting up to speed with the league, played some good football out from the back Fonte - 5 - Not the howler some were predicting but attempted to step up for citys goal which cost us. Fox - 5 - Looked suspect positionally but some decent offensive work and a few good corner deliveries help. Stupid yellow card for his celebration. Ward-Prowse - 7 - Very accomplished performance no real wow moments but no real "oh my god why are we playing a 17 year old" moments. Looks like he will be a tidy player considering he made his debut against the best midfield (and midfielder ((toure)) in the league. Schneiderlin - 8 - Was very impressed nice passing and very solid tackling. Lallana - 6 and a half - Okay game but he's our best player and he didn't look like he was probably had to defend a bit more than he was used to, I think he'll improve though Guly - 8 - Perhaps wasn't up to it offensively but its the hardest I've ever seen him work didn't give anyone a chance to rest and had the occasional good piece of link up Rodriguez - 7 - Good offensively pants defensively though, probably proved why he's a Centre Forward and not a winger Puncheon - 7 - Tracked back more than he used to and came into the game more as it went on. Subs Lambert - 8 and a half - even if he was a **** player the lift he gave the team and the energy we injected the moment he stepped on the pitch was amazing. Plus he is infact an amazing player fantastic finish and some quality link up play! Davis - 8 - Took his goal well and we gained control a fair bit once he came on Sharp - Didn't really have long enough for a rating. Adkins - 9 - Maybe should have played Lambert from the start but overall great subs and tactics, can't complain.
Well you lot will be pleased to see my ratings for the game I thought it was a very impressive performance, and no-one really stood out as having played badly so here goes: Kelvin Davis - 6, A good penalty stop but few dodgy moments Nathaniel Clyne - 8 MOTM, Looks a real prospect both defensively and attacking. Very excited by him. Jose Fonte - 8, A very committed and solid display. Surprised but pleased he had such a good game. Jos Hooiveld - 6, Stupid challenge for the penalty but otherwise looked ok. Danny Fox - 7, I have doubts (their goal) but if he keeps the rest of it up he will be fine in the top league. James Ward-Prowse - 8, Very mature and composed display from the youngster. A real talent. Morgan Schneiderlin - 6, Couldn't get into the game too much but looked ok. Adam Lallana - 6, Prefer him out wide but can understand why he has been moved inside. Jason Puncheon - 6, A lot of effort but not a lot of end product today. Guly do Prado - 7, Worked hard and some glimpses of his undoubted talent and workrate. Jay Rodriguez - 7, Looked good down the left with some real glimpses of talent. Rickie Lambert - 7, Superbly taken goal and Saints looked a better side with him in it. Steven Davis - 7, A good goal and his passing was good. Looks to be a good player. Billy Sharp - Didn't have enough time to make his mark on the game. Post your ratings below and I look forward to the usual slating Edit: Changed Kelvin Davis rating after seeing highlights
Adkins said he didn't start with Lambert because he hoped we wold be in a position to win by the time he put him on. Can't argue with that because it nearly worked.
Fair enough I can see your point, was one moment where he absolutely snapped David Silva it was class.
well looks like you lot are the new Stoke of the Prem. All effort but devoid of any real quality yet still manage to bundle the ball over the line a couple of times. god knows how ramirez is gonna fit in to that set up but there ya go. Think City had 81% possession at one point. Lallana is your only decent player. Davis' was not a good penalty save - just a dreadful penalty. Still, i suppose you clung on well in the first half, even if you did poleaxe their best player out of the game. Thankfully quality shone through in the end!
Generally agree, Davies poor handling, Guly generally very good- ran his socks off, but can someone please show how to defend corners.Punch worked hard but offered little going forward allowing Clichy to basically play left midfield. NA balls of steel playing JWP and saving Rickie. Thought Jose and Jos were sound, but do not clear thier lines quickly
Davis 7 - Had he not saved that penalty, we would have probably got beaten heavily. A penalty save alone should put him over a 6. Can't understand your 4! Clyne 7.5 - Good debut, looks like he will be an absolute star this season. Fonte 8 - Put under loads of pressure, but remained solid, and even ventured into attacking positions several times. I like this about him. Hooiveld 7 - Gave away a sloppy penalty. Could have cost dearly. Otherwise very solid. But some important blocks. Fox 7 - Sporadic. He can be excellent one minute, tripe the next. Lallana 6.5 - Quiet 1st half, but better in the last half hour. Needs pressure to create taken off him. Ward-Prowse 6 - Nice lad I'm sure, and will be good enough in a few years, but so, so lightweight. He needs to spend a year or so in the boxing gym, or at least a battler playing next to him. Drop him. Schneiderlin 7 - Was good, but just doesn't ever impress me the same way he seems to with everyone else. Puncheon 5.5 - Very poor 1st half, lost the ball several times and didn't try to win back, but had an much improved second half. Do Prado 7 - Classic Guly, hot and cold. Some great passes, but playing instead of Rickie, what the ****?!! Not again Nigel. Rodriguez 6.5 - Started lively, dipped, and then came to life again. Not much provided for him. Subs Lambert 8 - Brilliant goal, gave the whole team confidence. Never to be dropped again. Davis 9.5 - What can I say? Quite simply magnificent. Very good tackler, very tough player, great passer, great goal. He is going to be candidate for player of the season. Best substitute performance I can remember. First on the team sheet with Rickie, no question. Sharp 5 - Not enough time. Adkins 8 - A very strange team selection, and I grew very frustrated in the first half as to why key players weren't in the team. However, turned out that the late introduction of Lambert and Davis was nearly an inspiration. All in all, he's a legend anyway, bless him.
oh dear. If that's your honest opinion of the game you are a complete idiot. It was a great tackle on Aguero by Clyne - the injury was unfortunate and both our goals were clinical finishes.
