Seeing as I always moan about us getting bad press I think it's only fair we highlight the rare positive bit of praise we get. In The Times Matthew Syed has written an excellent piece about our start to the season. Some of the quotes are as follows: "Chelsea are playing football from the heavens. They are the standout team of the season." "Had Guardiola presided over this...he would doubtless be on the verge of footballing canonisation". "Chelsea are in a process of genuine and possibly irrevocable reinvention" The season has only just started but it's pleasing that our start is being acknowledged and RDM is getting praise where due. The media couldn't be more wrong about RDM being a negative manager, anyone that followed his managerial career at MK Dons and WBA will testify to this. Nice to get praise where it's due along with fair criticism where it's due as well, as a fan that's all I ask for.
DL--I read this article this morning with great pleasure. The great bit was the bit about Guardiola! I hope the dimwits in the other papers are getting the message that Robbie is not moving on, but about to become the next "extra special one!"
What is great is that he got the best out of the players at his disposal last year and took us to a cup double and this year with a couple of key attacking additions we're already playing much better attractive football. Shows he is adaptable.
And all of this without a stand out, world class controlling midfielder !!!!!!!!! Ramires is looking much better in the role, and Frank is playing his socks off in his new roll,as an impact player and a starter against teams where his style suits us. Hope he takes a 1 year extension, he's good for it. That for me is seriously good management, and it seems ALL the players have got the message and accept that switch and change will happen. The new players have integrated beautifully, and Marin, Romeu, Bertrand and the left back with the unpronouncable name are starting to get some game time as well. Add to the list the 3 or 4 seriously good youngsters, and the times , they really are a changing. Given the events of last year, and the upheavals of JT and Cole, bloody good job RDM.
I still think Paizon will turn out to be the best of all the recent signings. Would love to get a look at Marin before his contract expires
