understand the sadness and respect that Liverpool must feel and want to show on this day but cant see why they dont play on the day would allow thier fans to get together and remember lost friends in the spirt they knew them.

We shouldn't tar everyone with the same brush but I worked with a scouser and he was naturally upset about Hillsborough and his views on the cause were different from the majority of us who judged with less emotion.
However he lost every bit of sympathy and decency we had for his views when he brutally called Heysel "bad bricklaying".
City were of course in the oher semi final that day against Everton, After our game we heard Everton supporters saying "good, hope they are all dead". On the news, we saw the same people getting off a coach in Liverpool and it was all "in this together, all suffering". Two faced or what.

The salient fact is a lot of people died, and that those deaths were then subject to political and legal shenanigans that may be construed as a cover up. Had that process not occured, then maybe the date might just be memorial to the dead - as opposed to an ongoing fight for justice.

The other consideration is who the Liverpool manager is.

The FA are to be commended for their decision.

I don't understand why the Cheslea game couldn't at least be brought forward to a lunchtime kick-off though, it would give them a few more hours to rest and from a policing prespective it makes far more sense than allowing the Spurs and Chelsea fans to spend all day in the boozer <ok>

for me, the chance to have an everton v liverpool cup semi final as the first game to be played by liverpool on the anniversary makes perfect sense. if you could hand-pick a game it would be that one. i know it is an incredibly sensitive issue but united play on the anniversary of munich, rangers on the anniversary of the ibrox disaster and liverpool don't seem to have any issues with the date of heysel... where do you draw the line?

Yes but at the risk of sounding like a daytime talk show presenter, all of those events have had closure.

The events at Hillsborough have not.

I don't think you really want my views on any of this!! It would probably get this site shut down!
As Everton are my second team, then I'm hoping for a "Creamy Toffee" day.
    That is all.

the spanish FA are helping Barca by moving their game i believe to Saturday.

understand why the other one can't be played on Sun, so why can't they help chelsea by moving the venue and play Sat as well - oh yeah they can't as they are still trying to repay the cost of wembley <doh>

Why would the FA do anything constructive and helpful?
Black&WhiteTelly gets off after trying to maim an opponent but Derry gets a ban for not touching Ashley Young!

To be honest if people still find it upsetting it's about time they faced it head on. Lots of bad things happen to lots of people but the world is still turning and this will put Chelsea at a disadvantage and the FA should be doing all it can to help them get through. Whatever the decision on Liverpool and the rights and wrongs, Chelsea should be playing on the Saturday.

Agree with all of that. I think had it have been a league match on that date, then the match should probably just be played, but not an FA cup semi. That's just a bit too much.
It's hard on Chelsea and as has been said, it would've been far better if we could have had both semi's on the saturday, played at the same time, just like they used to be. That, however, would require common sense from the FA...

Chelsea game should have been 7.45 on Friday, London fans don't make as much of the day as the rest of us, from what I've seen.
