Charlie Adam may face his old side at Bloomfield Road if the game is given the go-ahead.

Rangers may come up against former player Charlie Adam in a proposed friendly match with Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

A minority of Rangers supporters were infamously involved in a riot in Manchester prior to the 2008 UEFA Cup Final. While the pre-season fixture has been agreed on by both clubs for Tuesday, July 19 the final decision will rest with Lancashire Constabulary, according to The Sun.

Adam has been linked with a return to the Premiership, but Gers and Seasiders fans will be hoping the midfield star will still be around to play in the match – if it gets the go-ahead.

Adam - now the captain of his club - has scored 28 goals in 78 appearances since signing for Blackpool in 2009.

He was previously with Rangers since from the age of 17 but spent loan spells with St Mirren, Ross county and Blackpool themselves before singing for Ian Holloway at Blackpool.

"A minority of Rangers supporters were infamously involved in a riot in Manchester prior to the 2008 UEFA Cup Final."

A very small minority as well. Piss poor organisation and heavy handed riot police contributed just as much as the daft wee neds that decided to rampage. I still say that if the police hadnt got involved and the fucking screen hadnt been turned off then any trouble makers would have been self policed by the crowd.

The reality is, Manchester is run and full of utter *****s. We shouldnt be returning anywhere near the place after that day. I still remember being stuck at the train station for over 2 hours waiting on the next train back to Leeds cos the fannies thought a normal midweek service would be enough <doh> outside was a no-go as the cops were skelping anything that moved.

    I bought a ticket for £850 <yikes>

We had a cracking day, went for lunch at a Brazilian restaurant, then got scooped around 1600 hours.

The whole city was blue, we ended up walking for about 5 miles out of the City centre to get a carry out to some shop on the outskirts of the city, and the streets were chocca with blue noses.

Started talking to some Russians who gave us a drink of "real Vodka" I was ****ing steamin by this point. Still got to the game, watched it and that was fine.

Afterwards, I got talking to Stuart McCall then some Manc cow (tried to pump her) then got lost, eventually met up with some fellow bears and went to a lock in in some estate in Manchester to the wee small hours.

Never knew of any trouble until the wife phone giving it "are you ok?" ****e. <grr>

My mate was in Piccadily, and he said once the screen went off, you could feel the tension building, he ended up watching the game in a bookies 21" screen <laugh>

I arrived in Manchester at 9am with a case of stella under my arm. I shared that with a mate along with a bottle of mad dog and some skittle vodka. Had to get more cans just after lunchtime and all the shops had ran out of beer. We found one somerfield that were taking cases straight from the delivery and handing them to customers, ten mins and they were all gone too, luckily we got a case of Carlsberg (canny be choosy!)

We had a brilliant day in Piccadily Square, only issue were finding bins and toilets but we werent too bothered. The day police were great, with many folk trying to fire into the policewomen and getting photos with the horses. There was also the poor sods who inevitably sunk into the horse ****e <laugh>

It was around 7:30pm where it all went wrong, the screen had been binned. It was showing highlights and advertisements all day so someone had clearly switched it off, my mates company does media screening for events and he did this one. He confirmed to me later they were told directly by the police to switch it off as they were concerned there would be a riot should Rangers score <doh> Funnily enough, the riot police were already getting tooled up even though there were no signs of trouble throughout the day.

We ran about looking for somewhere to watch the game when a rumour spread that Ferguson had scored to put us one nil up, people then started jumping about celebrating. I'd love to catch the dick that started that rumour as it was a real disappointment when we found a telly showing the score as 0-0. We then watched the second half outside Edwards, as there was a screen facing out their window. We could tell folk were pissed off already so as soon as Zenit's 2nd went in we ducked out of there. A great day turned ****e and I had sobered up despite the amount I had drank.

Checked my phone and had about 15 texts asking if I was ok and a fair few missed calls, I only seen a couple of minor scuffles so didnt know what the fuss was about but I did see the riot cops charging a few folk so we stuck to the train station.

Hopefully I'll see Rangers in another final but ideally I'd like it to be in Germany since they know how to treat football fans, it'll be too expensive for neds to travel and the women are well worth firing into <ok>

i was at the game and like most didn't know of any bother till i got home that night, i lived in the city centre at that time and the place was a mess but i didn't relaise how bad things were.

Spent the day in picadilly gardens which was supposed to be the zenit fanzone but was overrun by bluenoses. Only bit of bother i saw was when a zenit fan got up onto a roof with a massive flag, some smart arses thought it would be a good idea to launch bottles at him <grr> what they probably didn't realise was that they were throwing them into a crowd of rangers fans <doh>

had mates who were caught up in it all at night and don't think the police covered themselves in glory that night, no doubt there were phannies on our side inflaming the situation though <ok>

I remember that Zenit fan, he tried to make some kind of statement of defiance and got pelted to within an inch of his life <laugh> He could have got steaming on just the amount of booze that was lauched at him.

Still though, I wasnt for messing with any of the Ruskies. They looked pretty shifty.

I jumped in my mates car in the morning after 5 hours of wandering the streets myself with a massive gash on my leg (caused by a rangers fan) and I said to my other mate in the back, that was the worst night of my life, and he just looked at me and raised his arm, he had a hospital bracelet on that said "unknown male" <laugh> I just burst out laughing. The silly **** had dropped about 10 valium before the match. Both me & him missed the whole match. I saw that copper getting his balls kicked <ok>

I was in Albert Square for it (I think) and had a great day. I was pished in no time after a taxi driver took us to a petrol station selling booze between Stockport and Manchester. Had two 2l bottles of strongbow to myself and 3 crates of stella between 4 of us. They were showing the highlights of previous rounds and I thought we had scored when Novo scored the penalty v Fiorentina <laugh>

Missed all the riots, but got separated from my brother and mates coz I was being a fanny. Ended up stopping a car on the main street and getting them to take me back to the bear camp in Stockport. I woke up in a bunker <laugh> Seen the riots on sky sports news in the morning.

There was a car left the camp just before us, then a police car came screaming round asking where the car had gone. A mile down the street it had caught up with it, and a woman was in the passenger seat greeting her eyes out.

We got to Manchester for our bus home and the driver tried to charge us 4x more than the meter said. He had a wee sign in the taxi saying £25 fine for soiling outside taxi, £75 fine for soiling inside taxi. I asked how much to ****e in his boot, because I didn't know what if that would be classed as inside or outside his taxi. I squatted in his boot and he let us have the fare for free as long as I didn't ****e <laugh>

    What a trip <laugh>
