The difference between Rangers situation and that of Portsmouth is that they own something worth selling.
I can't believe this will happen, get the feeling there will be some last minute reprieve. However, strange as it may seem, I think football needs such a high profile team to go under. Someone has to wake up and realise that the stupid wages the top players earn cannot be justified in economic terms (don't get me started on the moral issues!). If it does happen then its a bit short notice to get another team in (of suitable stature - befitting a Premier League club ).
Saying on Sky, Rangers could form a new club with a new company but SPL clubs would have to agree for them to keep share in SPL. definitely banned from Europe for 3 years if liquidated.
If Rangers are liquidated then either Celtic will just dominate the league or it will finally become mildly competitive. One of the worst leagues in the world.
Yes and we won't be able to play football next season maybe because we were too busy wasting time in a totally futile attempt to save the club. Although it does not seem fair that if Rangers get liquidated, they could still play in the same league next season.
When the whole furore started with Rangers going into administration, the SPL were quite adamant about the strict adherence to their rules. Then influential people got around the table and the rules began to be twisted around a little. Now, it wouldn't surprise me whatever the SPL do.
I think you're right. According to the BBC HMRC have said that they will reject a CVA unless there is clear commercial reasons for not doing so to allow proper investigations in to the cause of financial mismanagement. Any CVA from Pompey is unlikely to offer big returns so I can see it being rejected.
To be quite honest I am becoming more than a little fed up with the scenario. The club's fans are yet again left wondering whether they will have a feasable offering of a club to support. Even if they do have some sort of club they are now wondering as to whether they will be able to play this coming season. The fans pay a large chunk of the wages and costs of their club and all of this dithering does not help in any way to foster the belief that their will be an answer to their prayers in the near future. Surely if a club hits such disastrous financial trouble their should be a quicker way to sort out the mess. We all know that a lot of vile abuse was aimed our way when we were close to hitting the wall but it was only a few of them acting that way. Most of the blue support is, like most of our support, normal football football following folk. They support their club through thick and thin in the same way other's do their clubs. Sadly apart from a brief spell they are receiving a hell of a battering and I do not envy them in the slightest. It must be time for them to be put out of their misery, one way or another.
They also reckon that New Rangers will be let back in SPL because they would lose too much revenue from TV without them. Looks like Nicola picked the wrong team for our tournament.
rangers are out of Europe for three years if a newco is formed. Perhaps it would be best for their newco to enter the English football pyramid at the highest level they can get, and work their way up!
Of course the SPL isn`t what it used to be, but how many countries of less that 5 million people have got anything that is significantly better ?
