Gabbidon arrives at Loftus Road on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at West Ham earlier this summer. As revealed by skysports.com last week, Gabbidon linked up with QPR for pre-season training and the Wales international has impressed Rangers boss Neil Warnock. Warnock has handed Gabbidon a one-year deal with the option of another 12 months, as he sees the experienced defender as a key addition to his squad. Gabbidon is QPR's third free transfer signing of the summer following the arrivals of Jay Bothroyd and Kieron Dyer.
I don't think its a bad signing. We need cover at the back, and he will provide that. He played 22 times in the premier league last season, so he knows what its about.
I can see NW's line up next season: Kenny Ramage, Connolly, Hall, Gorrks, Gabiddon, Hill Taarabt, Derry, Faulin HH subs Dyer, Webber, PVM, Cerny, Hulse, Mackie,
another west ham throw out but he doesn't seem too bad & reports he's done alright in pre-season, no what about dj next.
Don't see Gabbison as improving our centre of defence greatly. Would be a decent signing for a Championship club but only as a squad player for the Premiership.
On a free i think this is probably good business, he has had periods of being a quality defender, and maybe still has something to offer for a couple more years, I agree with Ciarrai this would of been a great signing in the Championship but hope he can still cut it in the prem, I look forward to to him telling us all to **** off over twitter....
While we definitely still need some quality options all over the pitch I'm beginning to wonder about our squad size. The limit is presumably still 25 over-21's right and with all these oldies coming on board we must be well over that. What happens I wonder?

"Obviously I was available on a free transfer after leaving West Ham and I am just glad to have my future sorted out so I can concentrate on playing for QPR this season. "It has been good since I linked up with the team in Cornwall, I played in a couple of games and I am delighted the manager has offered me a contract. "I spoke with the manager and I liked what he had to say and I am excited about the future plans for QPR." Gabbidon's agent, Pete Smith, of New Era Global Sports, admits Warnock played a big part in his decision to move to QPR. EXCLUSIVE: R'S SWOOP FOR GABBIDON Posted on: Mon 25 Jul 2011 Queens Park Rangers Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of former West Ham defender and Wales international Danny Gabbidon. Gabbidon, who turns 32 in August, has put pen to paper on a one-year contract at Loftus Road, following the expiration of his deal with the Hammers. The centre-back brings a wealth of experience with him and made close to 100 Premier League appearances during his six-year stay at Upton Park. Article continues Advertisement Gabbidon - who featured and impressed in all three matches on our recent tour of Cornwall - becomes Neil Warnock's third summer signing, following the captures of Jay Bothroyd and Kieron Dyer. Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, the R's gaffer said: "He's impressed me in the last 10 days or so that he's been training with us. "I think he's just the type of player we need - a quality defender with plenty of experience. "I hope I can reinvigorate his career, because a couple of years ago I thought he was one of the best defenders in the country." Gabbidon is included in QPR's squad for their tour of Italy and, shortly before setting off to London Gatwick ahead of a two-hour flight later today (Monday), he told www.qpr.co.uk: "I'm delighted to be here. "It's a good Club. Hopefully I can learn more about it in the coming weeks. "I had a good week with the lads in Cornwall and I'm pleased to have signed. "My agent spoke to the Manager and he said to come down and train for a week. It went from there. "He was a big part in me joining the Club. I've been quite impressed by him. "He's straight talking, which I like. If you're doing something right I think he'll be the first to tell you and, if you're not, he'll be the first to tell you again. "As a player, that's what you want. I was impressed with what he had to say about the Club and what he wants to do this season. "I think we can do well. The lads showed last season that they're already confident and hungry to do well in the Premier League." Gabbidon added: "Hopefully I can bring experience to the table having played in the Premier League for a number of years. "I know the ins and outs of the league, and what's required. "There are a lot of good players here already but hopefully, with my ability, I can add something to the team." *The deal is subject to the approval of the relevant paperwork by the FA and Premier League
@simonjcole Simon Cole I wish Danny Gabbidon well over at #QPR. Wont be a loss at #westham, was never the same player after that long injury layoff
Wish Warnock would tell us about the future plans for QPR and get us excited too...................sorry, forgot that he has been gagged!
Fresh start with a new club, can play full back, give him time and I think he'll come good. Much better than Orr.
At CB, we have Gorkks, Connolly, Hall and S****u plus Ramage and Hill who could cover those positions. Connolly was inconsistent last season, Hall spent more time on the treatment table than on the pitch, S****u is to big and slow for the PL, Ramage may be a better CB than RB (where, at times, he didn't even look Championship class) and Hill may prolong his career by playing in the centre. Gorkks has mostly been very good over the last couple of seasons. Surely, we already have the bodies and we don't need cover as much as a really good CB to partner Gorkks and lead our defence. IMO, Gabbidon is another gamble which may come off but he played 22 times in the PL last season in a team that was relegated. Still, when you're skint....
Any particular reason for saying that, or does the name just invite abuse? I just love reasoned debate....
