saw this question on the cc message board....putting club loyalties aside who do you think is the better player?

although they are both technical midfielders, one is getting hyped up by the media and one has been largely under the radar in recent months and years.

i think ramsey has more about him in general, can pass, tackle, shoot, create, dribble and lead a team. allen is more of a out and out passer, rather lightweight but can dictate a game, and rarely misplaces a pass (though they are usually sideways and backwards). takes a certain role in midfield, ramsey plays further forwards usually.

since the injury ramsey had vs stoke in 2010 his career has stalled, since then allen has gone from strength to strength, liverpool want him and will probably get him too. good signing for them if overpriced.

2 quality players, all we need is 3rd top midfielder to come through in the next 5 years and we've got a chance of going places at international level.....<ok>

Just a quick message to whoever is in charge down west at the moment .......if Liverpool are offering anything over £5 mill for that Allen bite their fecking hands off as he is as much use playing against top opposition as a chocolate fire guard .................give me Rambo any day as he opened up the opposition as soon as he came on and a far superior player ,not to mention Bale as well ........;o)

Ramsey!! Done all what we are talking about at the moment with Allen before he broke his leg that has set him back and is why we are even comparing the 2 now otherwise Rambo would have been Fab's replacement at Arsenal a long time ago.

Honestly I am a Cardiff Fan and would always take a Cardiff player over a jack any day that is true but I am also the type of Cardiff Fan that don’t care about anyone outside of my club or its league.

If Swansea can get over £10m for Allen then good luck to them, you can't argue that he is one of the best for his style of play. Rambo plays higher up the field and takes more chances with his passes and can thread in a killer pass.

I think Ramsey is the more complete player at the moment and scores more goals, did enjoy the GB match last night and will try and get tickets for the Uraguay game.

Guys, forget all this us and them nonsense and just debate the subject matter.

As DJ said they are different types of player so a comparison is perhaps unfair. Rambo is at his best creating, playing killer passes and getting into the box with late runs. Allen keeps the ball moving in midfield, helps out the back four and tries to make himself available when players further forward have to play the ball back. He can also score goals given the opportunity.

Ideally I would like to see them playing togther in the same Wales and, for the sake of the Olympics, GB sides as they both have so much to offer.

By the way, what are the views on the Welsh guys not singing the GB National Anthem? It appears to me that they all agreed that course of action before the game. I know I will take stick but it seems a littlebit childish to me as they were representing GB not Wales. I have no issues in not singing it for Wales v England but this is a different situation.

As a republican I'm right behind them. I would never sing God save the Queen.

Hey BFB,

Long time since I posted, but in reply to your post regarding the non singing of anthem. Quite cynically I could suggest that many players don,t bother to sing their own anthems as they,ve represented other countries at different age levels..so it all gets a bit confusing for them, Who am I? Where am I? and Who am I playing for today? Oh well it doesn,t really matter cos I ain,t got no loyalty anyway?

Obviously this observation does not reflect on the Welsh players, and I think that its a freedom of choice to sing or not to sing.

I am aware that in the rugby they sometimes take a close up of the players as they struggle to find the pitch, tune and the words, its is not for the fainthearted. Fortunately in Wales our players (at all sports and levels) sing with passion and gusto. We may not be world beaters but we are honest and loyal!

Fair points but as it seemed it was just the Welsh guys not joining in it looked a bit pemeditated.

By the way, some of the Senegalese tackling <yikes>. Very un-pc I know but had our man Kiss blacked up and played for them? Just his style of "saying hello".

I don't even know the English/British national anthem!... 'god save our 'gracious'? Queen...' umm thats about it! Oh and Victorious goes somewhere then it ends with 'God save the/our queen.'
It wouldn't surprise me if our players didn't know it either.

Hey BFB,

Just a thought, Was the team only made up of English and Welsh players? If so it will be interesting to see how our cousins react to the playing of the anthem, bet if they join in its through gritted teeth!

Went to the millenium to see GB v NZ womens game, not bad at all, played in the right spirit no descent etc regarding decisions ..only down side was I did expect the girls to swop tops after it had finished :emoticon-0101-sadsm

In regards to the topic; I thought GB played a lot more positive when ramsey came on. He seems to be the only player in midfield that runs at the back 4. However, I agree that ramsey and allen play different styles and can't be compared like for like. Allen is more of a defensive playmaker, while Ramsey is an attacking playmaker. After watching the last 2 games I think Ramsey, Giggs and Allen should be the midfield 3. I just don't understand cleverly's role in the game.

Correct answer to the question - neither.

They play completely different positions. One helps the attack, the other dictates the midfield.

As h said, who cares anyway. Let's all be grateful they're both Welsh.

I think Cleverley's role was to get in amongst them and break up their play. A bit difficult for him though as most of them were about 8 ft tall, he is only about 5 ft 8 and they went around and over rather than on the ground in the middle.

As a result he was out of the game for long periods and appeared to play a minor role.

BB - I thought the NZ male coach was rather eager to get them back to the changing rooms and help them cool off. Lucky ba$tard.

its a relevant question as one is out of the team and one is in it.........

ramsey has more about him, therefore a better player imo simple as that..
