http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19833224 Having a 21 year old as the captain of a national team was never a great idea but when you consider that the player in question was returning from a very serious injury, the appointment never made much sense. Having said all that, Ramsey was doing a good job as captain and Wales were winning under the management of Gary Speed. Things have changed now after the sad passing of Speed and it looks like Wales are back to square one. Coleman has yet to win a game, so he decided he needed a change in captaincy. Coleman is complete idiot in my opinion, he made a pigs ear of the whole thing with Shawcross, and why he made that public, I will never know. Just put the spot light on Ramsey when a stronger manager would have had the balls to make his own choices. Hopefully, now this added pressure of being captain of his country not being an issue any more, we might see the Ramsey of old on a more consistent basis. I think he has done really well this season, he has never let us down when he has come on as a sub and was brilliant against Manchester City. With Diaby's injury and Wilshere still not ready, I think Ramsey can claim a place in the first team for now. Hopefully he can just focus on his game now and help us and also his country by just being his old self on the pitch. Onwards and upwards.
I am in full agreement with the sentiments of the op here. Ramsey is still a youngster and he has had more than his fair share of knocks (and knockers). He needs a 'break' and this could be it- I think we will see good things from him this season.
There are a lot of very over rated coaches / managers who some how still get decent jobs no matter how many other jobs they screw up ... non more so than Coleman. Making Ramsey an international captain at his age while recovering from a career threatening injury was always going to be a high pressure situation. As though this wasn't bad enough he then PUBLICLY announced he'd ask Ramsey about whether he minded the person who nearly ended his career being in the same team as him! Now THAT'S true stupidity!

I don't think he did too bad a job as captain, it's the manager whose role should be called into question.
