QPR manager Chris Ramsey is targeting three more home victories to clinch Premier League survival after the Super Hoops saw what would have been a vital three points slip through their fingers.
A thrilling bottom of the table clash saw relegation rivals Aston Villa hit a late leveler to rescue a 3-3 draw, thanks to Christian Benteke’s hat-trick.
Rangers took an early lead at Villa Park but paid the price for defensive blunders to fall behind 2-1 at the half-time break.
Ramsey’s charges rallied in the second half, however, with club captain Clint Hill pulling one back with an unmarked header before Charlie Austin’s neat finish put QPR back in front.
A vital three points would have lifted the London outfit out of the bottom-three at the expense of their hosts, but they were left to settle for one as Benteke struck a late free-kick to claim a deserved share of the spoils for his side.
The result left QPR two points from safety, having played a game more, and with meetings with Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool among their final six fixtures, boss Ramsey admits his side face a battle to avoid the drop.
They host the league leaders on Sunday before welcoming West Ham and Newcastle to Loftus Road, with what Ramsey is calling a “cup final” against Leicester falling on the final day.
He said: "I don't know what we need but we're probably going to have to win three games.
“I don't know what the points total will be but our two home games are going to be very important after Chelsea.
"We have got a couple of very difficult ones in Liverpool and Manchester City and then we have the potential cup final against Leicester on the last day of the season.
"Most teams would take being in it right to the end and then roll the dice, you don't want to start being detached because it's a big mountain to climb."
Rangers looked close to a crucial away victory, what would have been only their second this season, after Austin fired the visitors in front on 78 minutes and Ramsey admitted disappointment that his side couldn't hold on for what would have been a vital three points.
The former Tottenham coach added: "It's a long time, it's heart attack time for managers that. You can see you're going to win but you know there's a chance anything can happen, a free-kick, a corner or a bit of magic.
"I thought we could [hang on] but a free-kick is a free-kick, at that stage most of their attacking options had been exhausted.
"I'm disappointed if I'm being honest. But before the game if someone said we'd get four points from the last two games we probably would have taken that."

    Who writes this crap?

'superhoops saw 3 vital points slip through their fingers'......... Erm....we drew, so we saw 2 vital points slip through our fingers ffs.

'Rangers looked close to a crucial away victory, what would have been only their second this season'........ Erm......did you not see what happened on saturday? Can you not take a look at the league table before writing an article?

Journalists are so lacklustre nowadays....how do they get/keep their jobs?
