Well, what can we expect from this Cup tie? Right old drubbing from a very in-form Saints? A tired, out of sorts performance from Town, disheartened by Saturday's result and frankly below par effort. A rapid spirited recovery, giving it our all, and going down worthy losers...or worse on pens? Or, can we really pull this off, get our noses in front (Murph again) and play strongly and wholeheartedly and win! I admit to being anxious. If we get stuffed and don't get our passing game going, and lose two on the trot, we head for a tricky game against Millwall.....and face an interesting few weeks against teams we should win. One thing for sure, its gonna be a fascinating 2nd half season, all to play for. I wish all who are going to Wednesday's game a terrific night out whatever!
Millwall are ****e mate, a relegation waiting to happen, they even lost to bottom place Blackpool on Saturday. There may well be some 'tricky' fixtures in the Championship, but for any side aspiring to promotion Millwall should not be one of them.
We have a very poor record at Millwall, and knowing our luck they will have a new manager in charge for Saturday......
I think we will now go on another long run undefeated, i mentioned in another thread that i thought, other than the Derby game, we had a fairly easy Jan and Feb and would not drop many points!! I just hope it doesnt all come down to the last game of the season because i dont think we will win that one!! As for Soton, i think we will take them in to extra time at least, will we beat them????? Yeah i think so!!
Spanish i'm with you. i think we have the beating of Southampton. We went there and gave them a game, one blip against Derby due to a poor decision from Tommy and a worse one from the ref doesn't make us a bad team. Normal service to be resumed Wednesday.
I think we'll lose to Saint 2-0. If Southampton can be backed at anything around even money I will probably have around £40 on them in 90. We really need to give tonnes a rest, we looked dead vs Derby. Players who have played 90 minutes chasing a game on a terrible pitch, lets make changes, get this out the way then we can have a free Saturday in preparation for Brighton away. I hope Gherkin/ Bru/ Ambrose/ N.Hunt / St Ledger ( if he's still with us ) Clarke, Sammon all start. I'm not remotely interested in this fixture, I am in promotion!
My team would be Gerks Parr,Chambo, Berra, Mings N.Hunt,Bru, Ambrose,Shunt Goldy or Murph Sammon sounds as though there is a virus going about (if its anything like I have had, I have been feeling **** for about 10 days) so best to protect the squad a bit.
Tend to agree that we will give others a good run out for this cup tie. TBH and frank, I am not too bothered if we don't win this one. Bigger fish to fry and many players who have given it their all for 5 months, desparately need a rest. They too wont be bringing a first team down. Could just surprise them. Get better Guru!
We're full of confidence after winning at Old Trafford. With this and a virus spreading round your camp, I think Saints will win 3-1.
Oh yes we will. Koeman takes the cups seriously. It may not be full strength but it will be a strong team.
All I am hoping for is a decent performance on Wednesday night and if we end up gallant losers after 90 minutes then fair enough! What I do not want is an extra time nightmare as we need our players to be fresh to face Millwall on Saturday. The good thing is that Millwall also have a Cup replay on Wednesday night so they will not have any advantage over us for Saturday! The 3 points is way more important than a good cup run so tomorrow is all about a decent performance and a gallant defeat will be ok by me!
The only thing i can see from a cup run is a possible welcome distraction from the league, but undoubtably league is the priority and 3 points saturday takes precedence for me. If we get the win tomorrow night the feelgood factor will be huge amongst players and fans alike and we head to the den ready to continue our promotion push.
This is what surprises me about the Budgies and their lame performance in the Cup against League 1 Preston. You would have thought they would have really gone all out in the Cup and go for a decent Cup run because they will have nothing to look forward to in the League!
lol. oh wait for the cries of derision, some of our feathered friends still believe they'll finish higher than us this season.
One win on a day that we lose and the mood has shifted dramatically... Almost unrecognisably so I do think they'll make the play offs this season, but after 1 decent match (and 20 minutes from their new manager) it could as easily fall apart as come together for them through until May.
