Peter Ramage insists he 'can only see QPR going onwards and upwards' after being released from the Club this week.

Following his move from Newcastle United in the summer of 2008, the defender made 74 appearances for the R's, scoring two goals.

And the loveable Geordie holds no grudges following the decision not to renew his current contract, saying: "I can only see QPR going onwards and upwards.

"It was always going to be a struggle last season and to be able to finish it off and stay up is a massive achievement.

"Everything that's going on behind the scenes - like a new training ground and even plans to build a new stadium - can only be good for the Club.

"The calibre of player that was in the dressing room last season, compared to seasons gone by, is a lot stronger - and that's no disrespect to other lads that I've played and become good friends with.

"QPR are getting better players, bigger players, and that can only be good for the Club.

"Hopefully the Club can progress up the league and you never know, in the next few years QPR could be challenging for something."

Ramage added: "I just want to thank the fans.

"I've had a lot of messages on Twitter from them, which is really humbling.

"I appreciate each and every single message and every fan that's supported me in my time here. They're a great bunch and a loyal set of fans.

"From when I came in to today, it's chalk and cheese in terms of how the Club has changed.

"The fans have been a massive part of that. They've always been boisterous and behind the lads - me especially.

"I'm probably going to be one of them now, joining in and singing at the Loft End! I'll be trying to come to games when I can to watch the team."

What a humble and loveable guy Peter is. No grudge or bitterness, just plain realistic. He is so far away from some of the other released players, he's never just sat on his arse collecting wages, always gone out to get first team football instead. And for that he should be held in the highest regard among us.
From being a northener and a Georgie thru and thru we've managed to turn him around to a proper R :)

Wouldn't it be great if Tarbs or Buz had his attitude? They'd be World Beaters for sure.

He's a proper man is Ramage.

He looked best at CB but rarely got the chance to play there; he's a real 100% trier and top bloke. Good luck Rambo!

I would have kept him as back up, he was pretty bad at RB but like Hill looked very good in the centre.

Id have been happy with him as 4th choice CB.

He stayed on the pitch for ten minutes with a season-ending cruciate ligament injury as we'd made three subs, I think. My mind may be playing tricks.

Genuinely top bloke who gave 100% every time he played for the club and appreciates being blessed with the ability to kick a ball about for a living. Hall, Agyemang and especially Rowan Vine take note, you bastards.

I was a massive critic of the ram as a player, but as a man he is a model pro and class bloke. Always last off the pitch always applauding the fans at away games always throwing his shirt into the crowd

Not a legend by any means but a really decent person

Model pro. Clubs need more genuine players like PR. He'll get a hero's welcome as a fan.

    Best of luck Peter.
