The Mail made it sound like a huge meltdown behind the scenes. At the very least they grossly exaggerated the situation.
From the Athletic, a reliable source, this concerns me as Ralph’s arrival definitely brought togetherness and I assumed that continued to an extent … “(Sources close to players) explained Hasenhuttl’s man-management and communication skills had long been a problem but would tend to exacerbate and become even more insular when form nosedived. Just like now. At this point, the mood in the dressing room had turned to scepticism, with Hasenhuttl described by sources, who have asked to remain anonymous to protect their jobs, as having “no relationship” with his players. Some members of the squad had hoped he would leave at the end of last season and viewed a potential departure as having a deciding influence on their own futures. They shared those concerns with Southampton’s board”
I am starting to believe we may need a change of manager but we don't need to rush it. I don't see any point in sacking him now. Ralph has done quite well against Man City so I don't see anyone else doing a better job on Saturday at such short notice. Sacking a manager without a plan rarely works out well.
Sitting on a tropical beach with a cold Bintang is chilled enough. Don't over react to mail baiting it's all a bit tongue in cheek.
However you interpret the story from the Mail, it has been pretty obvious for a long time that Ralph doesn't have a good relationship with a lot of the players. None of them thank him after they leave for f*ck's sake, and too many of them are eager to move on. I've been saying this for ages because it just seemed so bloody obvious, but too many people have their head in the sand. Glad one of the players has finally come out and said some truths because now hopefully people will realise what's going on. I expect a lot more will come out once he's gone.
I've been on the fence for a while now but I'm now reluctantly concluding it's time for him to go. It's a shame because I think the Ralph we hired could have done a good job if the current financial backing had been there from the start, but it's been a ****ty job for him and it seems as though everything that's happened while he's been here has somewhat broken him.
Don't think it's likely that we'll see Ralph turn it around now. Don't think he's in any immediate danger but assuming a loss from City he will surely need 4 from West Ham and Bournemouth you'd imagine. Think the tide turned at Brentford. Not saying it's right but you very rarely recover once the fans have turned on you in the ground. It's also a bit strange as although he was undoubtedly backed this Summer in financial terms he's definitely been a bit stitched up by the lack of striker. Not landing one really was a huge failing and has hurt this season massively. I've got a horrible feeling that we might try and go for Brenda when he gets sacked.
Lol a tiny small bit of me wants someone like Brenda, just so I can laugh. It is just like all those that were convinced Brexit was a good idea....be careful what you wish for.
Wow, wow, wow! The Athletic are usually very good at reporting what’s happening & don’t go for back page headlines. There’s a few comments there, that if true, RH’s toast.
