From someone who has decided to give up the drink for a while (3 months so far) this is still so true lol.
I was wishing my pals Happy New Year on Saturday at Parkrun - imagine how stupid I felt when my Nepalese chum reminded me it was actually the 17th of Poush 2078. Duh!
I watched Don’t Look Up, this afternoon. I don’t have Netflix but it’s on IPTV in the new released films section if anyone wants to watch it. A good satire with a strong political message. Meryl Streep was gloriously over the top as the President of the United States who is more concerned with ratings and money than saving lives, which is probably true for many senior politicians, and not just American. Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t look right, as a redhead! Don’t turn off when the credits start as there is what you might call an “epilogue”.
Sidney Poitier: Hollywood trailblazer dies aged 94 - BBC News RIP! To Sir with Love!! One This was one of the first films I saw at the cinema. He was a consumate performer with a deep rich voice that was beguiling. I thought he was brilliant playing opposite Rod Steiger in "In the Heat of the Night." Having read the summary of his life, I need to search out those films of his that I have not seen!!
It's possible that Maxwell's convictions will be quashed and a re-trial ordered after at least one juror failed to disclose they were a victim of sexual abuse, according to The Telegraph.
Yes, he has taken on a top lawyer to defend himself and I think the claim is that he used his own experience of being abused to influence other members. I am guessing that all the jurors were asked if there was any reason why they should be excused from the duty, but not sure how they do it in the states. The films depict “juror profiling” with private information being sought about jurors in big cases, but don’t know how much that is reality or Hollywood.
I think they were specifically asked regarding previous abuse as well. And it's now two jurors that have disclosed they were abused, and that this informed their arguments/were used in the jury debates. I can't see anything other than a retrial to be honest. What a mess.
