oh Fran, get back to being one of the lads with us again!! I always have to watch love actually and Notting hill if they’re on
We spend last Saturday and Sunday watching all old (80s-90s) films. Father of the Bride/2 Bridesmaids etc and really enjoyed it - we were in our happy bubble for two days.
My wife and I have been working our way through the free videos on Amazon Prime and have found so many that are dreadful, that it is not unusual to start watching one, just to abort it and hunt for another. I will have to start working through the movies on IPTV which are plentiful.
I was lucky enough to work in Manhattan for 5 years and absolutely LOVE the place. I swore, though, that I wouldn’t go to the US until they’d kicked Trump into touch .... so guess who’s hoping the election goes the right way in November (and they sort the COVID19 issues out!) I really want to go back ..... I get very emotional when I see these places I really would like to return to .....
I turned down the chance to go to Columbia University in NY when I was younger. I spent 10 days there at the campus, attending some lessons as a taster and training at the sports facilities. Lived in the student halls for 10 days and it was like a different world for his Hampshire bumpkin. Yes I know, I’m a dick
Just one of those things, Fats. We all have regrets over things we did or didn't do (one of mine concerns a Portchester lass called Anne in '72 ) but that's life - a series of events which lead you on to what actually happens. As we get into our twilight years, it's quite fun to think "what if?" but then we would be totally different people and our families and friends wouldn't have known the wonderful people we are I mean - God forbid - you might have grown up liking baseball and supporting Man Utd .............
I could have been the first Freddy Adu before Freddy Adu became Freddy Adu. No regrets. Great kids, a wife from a different league and despite the world falling around us, we do ok. There was this lass though...
The astronauts have been taken out of the SpaceX capsule. Reentry is always a very dangerous time, so good to watch. Amazing that it is 45 years since the last US splashdown....where did that time go! I remember watching a sci-fi film years ago where private space travel was suggested (2001??) ....seemed impossible at the time.
A word to the wise i.e. anyone approaching 70....remember to update your driving licence. I knew you had to do it and I knew that they didn't remind you, but forgot until my application for car insurance was turned down because it was out of date. Not sure why the DVLA can't remind you....as it is surely not in the government's interest to have people driving around with invalid licences (and therefore invalid car insurance)….and you get computer-generated reminders for everything else in life. Anyway...my fault...now sorted, but hope the info jogs someone else's memory.
A word to the wise (part II)...do not put your face mask in your dog biscuit pocket....you will spend an hour shopping feeling as if your head is in a box of Gravy Bones.
I was walking past some road works earlier and there were 3 men down a hole in the road singing happy birthday. I said whose birthday is it? They replied The holes
A brother of one of my colleagues went to a charity auction and bid about £15 on a bike that they were showing and won. When picking up the bike they asked where his van was. He said that's OK it will fit in the car. They replied that might but what about the 30 odd that come with it?
