So, after the heroics of Saturday‘s great win over Mersyside’s 2nd team, we come to Dave’s next ‘Reverse the Mechanism’ thread, this time over the team many secretly seem to love – probably because they’re “good old Delia’s” team, so “Let’s be ‘avin’ you!”
We’re going on a Canary hunt (hopefully)

NORWICH …. From the Latin “NOR” – meaning to constantly bounce and “WICH” – meaning between 2 leagues.

Norwich - England’s 2nd city in the medieval and renaissance periods and England’s first UNESCO City of Literature. It has been voted as “the happiest city to work in the U.K.”, one of “the best cities in the world” and one of the “Best Places to Live” in the U.K. Clearly, they didn’t interview many of the Norwich City fans then ……..

Norwich is home to the University of East Anglia – where my daughter nearly went (she chose Warwick in the end) and the only time I’ve been there was to take her to see the place (I wasn’t impressed …..).

I have been unable (as was correctly surmised) to find any major musical recording star or group hailing from Norwich. At least, none who I recognised! I guess someone will find somebody!

Historically Norwich has been associated with art, literature and publishing. It’s most famous son, Alan Partridge, is a media celebrity and movie star and Anglia Television supplied the main networks with such programmes as “Tales of the Unexpected”, “Survival” and “Sale of the Century” (“and now, from Norwich, it’s the quiz of the week”).

With Norwich city’s propensity to yo-yo between the Premier League and the Championship, some may believe that every 2 years it is the sale of the century of their players, but, remarkably, they’ve managed to retain many of them which rather helps the following season when they, generally, end up high enough to get back to the PL the following season. Currently, they sit at the foot of the PL on 17 points from 25 games and having shipped 53 goals to only scoring 15.

Quite the club, good old Saints may well have a “banana skin day” against and allow them only their 5th win of the season. Let’s hope Ralph can get the boys to just play the way they can and not think it’s just a question of turning up.

As we say at St. Mary’s “Let’s be ‘aving you, you Saints”!

    Referee: Simon Hooper.
    Assistants: Simon Long, Nick Hopton.
    Fourth official: Graham Scott.
    VAR:Jarred Gillett.
    Assistant VAR: Sian Massey-Ellis.

    (Thanks SaintOsprey!)

Games against Norwich are not always easy. We have had some entertaining high scoring game against them over the years.

Good thread. Part of getting old is realising people don’t know what you’re on about when you quote Alan Partridge. So thanks for including him.

Insightful insight. Pity no MOTD Friday we'd be on first if there was.

I went to UEA for one term, if that helps. Concrete jungle of a place. I then left and went to Southampton Uni instead, so I could watch the football.

    Priorities.

Since Boxing Day, we have scored 10 second half goals, in 8 games, compared to just 5 in the preceding 17 games. And 2 of the goals in the pre-Boxing Day games came in the match at Newcastle.
Quite a turn around and another sign of our improving game management.
    Long may it continue.

First game of the season for me! Bringing the boy down from windy Wales too…hoping for a strong performance to guide him away from the dark side of Man City and Liverpool!!! I’ll accept nothing less than a 5-0 win (the last game he saw was a certain cup game in Wales earlier this year)

3rd game of the season for me and the boy. So far we've had

    Wolves-L
    Utd-D

So surely we're due to witness a win first hand. I bloody hope so, COYR

I'm off to this one with my nipper. Expecting a decent match as tends to happen more often than not when we play Norwich.

    Norwich Rock Stars ...
The Singing Postman ‘Ha you gotta Loight boy’

Anyone expecting Saints Lots Norwich Nil needs to readjust their expectations

    A) Dean Smith has improved them
    B) This is Saints, we don’t do easy

Hopeful we can carry our great form into this game and win and continue looking up the table rather than down

The return of Angus Gunn 9-0 anyone?

They’ve only scored more than one goal twice this season. Watford away & some other team having an off day. Let’s hope Ralph has us prepped & raring to go.

Yes, as we were reminded by TSP, this will be Angus's first PL game at St. Mary's since the Leicester game, which was also on a Friday night.

Dean Smith has improved their defending but they still struggle scoring. Max Aarons is hopelessly neutered by having to actually defend for most games so I hope that we can continue with the smothering attacking pressure we’ve been able to show in the last few matches. Limit them to long play and we’ll surely have enough chances for a win.
