For those of us putting ourselves through the agony of the home game on Saturday, if you fancy dulling the pain through alcohol come to the Crown and Sceptre pre match. I'm sure some ex posters will be there as well, Roller and Stainsey (who appears to live at the C & S). I'll be there by 1.30 at the latest. There will also be the opportunity to raise a glass to Brix/David who died 2 years ago, shortly after our last 'last' home game in the PL, also against Newcastle. For newer posters Brix (Brixton R) was one of the original moderators of this forum, he did more than anyone to nuture it as the laissez faire place it is, encouraging input from all. For those of us who have been lucky enough to meet his family and learn more about his 'real' life he was clearly an all round top bloke away from here as well. Hope to see a fair bunch of us there, unless its chucking it down we'll probably be in the garden. If anyone takes up Beth's offer of a ticket, I have physical possession of her ST and the C&S will be the easiest place to meet up.
Nice one Stan. Blimey, it's two years to the day ( 14th May ) that David ( BrixtonR ) passed away. RIP Brix. I'll be there mate.
As always I will enjoy the company and the humour Aussie. I find it helps to have no expectations at all regarding the football.
I have my Cork in-laws over for the game - if I can keep them out of Westfield, I might be able to make the Conningham beforehand - suspect the C&S is a luxury too far for them though.
I'll be in the dingy recesses of my home on a non-drinking Saturday but will certainly raise a coffee cup and have many a respectful thought to Brix.
I will be there too from about 12ish. Not flying back till 8.30 so will be having a pint or 5 to celebrate the great Management team we have in place now. I always enjoy my day from a social point of view......the football, that's a different matter.
12.15?!? He'll be arseholed and I'll have to listen to his slurred analysis the whole game. To be fair it's usually the other way round.
Two years today, time flies. I shall raise a glass on Saturday although I can't make the game. I'll remember the date now l know it as it's the 9th anniversary of my mum passing away today...
Dear All......really sad to miss this...David was the person who got me to this board and encouraged me to stay. A true gent.....and I will certainly be raising a non alcoholic glass to him. Brixton R
Not coming up to the match (there's only so much good news I can take!) but great that the C&S goers will remember BrixtonR. I'll raise a glass to David tomorrow.
Working away on Saturday, but i'll raise a glass or 3 in remembrance to Brixton and my late uncle, otherwise known as Hammersmith Hoopton, who passed away at nearly the same time!Hope everyone has a cracking day.
