Mackail-Smith starred in Posh's League One promotion play-off final win over Huddlesfield on Sunday, scoring the second goal in the 3-0 rout of the Terriers which earned promotion to the Championship. The 27-year-old has made no secret of his desire to play at the highest level and admits that it would be a 'dream come true' to join a top-flight club. Iâve always said that until a bid comes in that is right for them, I wonât make a fuss and Iâll get on with my job.â The buzz around Mackail-Smith is set to go into overdrive now he has completed a career-best season with a haul of 35 goals. The Cambridgeshire club value the Scotland international at around £4million but could still prove to be a bargain addition to several Premier League clubs' squads for 2011/12. QPR manager Neil Warnock has warned that the club would not be splashing out on high-profile players, leaving a player of Mackail-Smith's stature as an ideal signing. However with a large reshuffle expected in the English top-flight, other teams will be lining up to secure new talent. Everton look set to lose the services of Louis Saha as he struggles with injury, although Moyes will be wary of taking another player from the lower leagues since Jermaine Beckford's patchy form since joining from Championship side Leeds. A third suitor present themselves in Wigan, after their fortunate escape from relegation. A strong batch of transfers will be needed to avoid a repeat performance next season and Roberto Martinez is understood to have eyes on a number of lower-tier domestic players. I would def consider a bid. A player with something to prove at a higher level, scores goals, may require time to adjust to premier league football, than again we have a number of players in that positon.
So the asking price is now £4m? That has gone up 25% in 2 months, not bad if POSH can get that sort or money (or more) for him. I have no idea if Norwich are still thinking about buying him. Given that we have signed Vaughan this week and looking to take Morrison from Millwall it looks like PL has lost interest in CMS
I'm not sure he will be good enough, a championship player at best I think. We should bid for Graham or Long providing Reading get beat
If Norwich sign CMS i hope PL offers less than he did in January. Yes he has scored a lot of goals in League 1 bit straight to the Premiership????? We all trust in PL one of the few managers who clearly knows what he is doing. As the above say 4 Million , i don't think so, not when you buy James Vaughan for less than 2 million from Everton!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm afraid its the latter man! Picked it up on the cheap. Going by your name though, its sounds like you're in the U.S?!
Yeah, even home games are 'aways' for me now. A LONG way aways!! Hoping to catch a game when I come home at Christmas though....
Me too! Mackail-Smith is not going to be good enough for the Premier League. But then I didn't want Derry, Hill and Mackie.
