Raheem Sterling for England, is he ready to take on the world or is he just flavour of the month?

He is certainly an impressive talent.

But should we be worried about how this could effect his long term fitness, rumoured ego and wage demands?

I hope he has a great game. I reckon he may only play 45 minutes though.

He shouldn't be playing for England at is age. Lets just hope he gets through without injury.

It's scary how much we rely on this kid, imo Assaidi should already be played in some games to give him a rest.

I think he is a good player for the record but is he that good?

I think I saw someone mention that he has 1 goal and 1 assist so far, is that right?

He is that good imo, I'm usually cautious at bigging up our kids but he is the real deal quick, skillful, strong, works hard and has a good football brain to cap it off. He needs to improve his final ball although it's not that bad and improve his finishing but again it's not terrible.

This could be really bad for him and us, I was hoping he would declare for Jamaica just so he doesn't have to be involved with the whole England circus.

Its quite an experimental team. Gerrard may only be in to get his 10th cap.

The fact that it is so experimental may mean that this is only a one off for Sterling atm.

^ This ^ It is a bloody circus, particularly the media scrum.

Add injury possibilities (imagine losing him for a month or more at the mo,nightmare)

Would prefer he was not involved at all.

Methinks Woy has only picked him so the Jamaicans can't pick him at a later date, same with the Zaha fella and Ivory Coast.

Bet you Team GB are fuming that they never spotted Usain Bolt before Jamaica!!

I don't think it counts for friendlies anyway. It has to be a competitive match in order to ensure they can't play for another country.

I think friendlies do count. But youth matches dont.

  18. I wish he was only getting his tenth cap, we'd have a young club legend on our hands all over again <ok>

And Van Persie withdraws from the Dutch squad with an injury.

What's the betting he'll be fit to play for Norwich on the weekend <ok>

He looks a real prospect, but his rise from the stiffs to England is maybe happening a bit too quickly imo.

It can damage youngsters, as they become burdened with OTT expectation, at a time in their development when inconsistency is inevitable.

We've seen many a young promising winger or forward appear, get lauded as the "new" whoever, & then slowly fade away, usually in their second season.

I'm not saying that'll be the case with Sterling, but it could. Personally, I think Rodgers has overplayed him already & should have eased him in to the side slower & not put him as starter every week - particularly when he has Assaidi (who I was really impressed by when I saw him the other week) sat on the bench.
