I read in the Times this morning that Rafa has been told to forget transfer deadlines and utilise the squad he currently has at his disposal for the remainder of our challenges in the 3 competitions we are still contesting! He has been reminded of the players he has at his disposal and they include Ferrera and Benayoun!! Paulo has served us well and I can handle that bit, but BENAYOUN???? Have our board of directors got some secret plot afoot to scupper our chances in all competitions? If they have they are making a very good job of it and I for one do not approve!
blue - I'm guessing that they are saying "just get on with it". We do have players on the books (like Malouda) who, whilst not part of the long-term future could (and should) be good enough to deal with the likes of Brentford. I would hope this means that they don't see Rafa as a longterm solution and that he is really just Interim (please let that be the case) and working on the basis that whoever comes in the Summer will be making those choices - Rafa went through about 22 billion players at Liverpool, I hopefully won't get a chance to shape our squad. We do have a good squad/team. Unfortunately, we don't look as good as the sum of our parts. I for one, would not want Rafa to be the man that plugs those gaps. Also, there may be some consideration of those younger players out on loan everywhere. There is some real quality there and I hope that just one or two of them will be able to find a place back at the Bridge next Season. I could be completely wrong and it's just Roman and the Board trying to work out which over-priced, out of sorts, past his best forward we can buy next....could be Ronaldo (the fat one) or Maradonna......apparently they used to be good!
I think you are spot on about us not being as good as the sum of our parts, Croc! Give the squad to the Special one or Guardiola and we'd be good for half a dozen trophies! Even with Robbie a fair few--but we'll have to sit things out this year while the FSW weaves his lack of magic!
how many managers in the last 3 years? and how many of them were responsible for transfers? its no wonder chelsea are going backwards and until we find a manager who is given a weeny piece of time and allowed to build his "own" team, in the long term we are f*cked.
lucky who have we signed that you think we shouldn't have? I think the worst signing has been Luiz who can not keep concentration for more than a nano second. Being a good bloke doesn't make you a good footballer. Who were you thinking of that we shouldn't have signed?
Surely this is the right choice though? I agree RA might not be doing it for the right reasons but apart from Falcao there's not a big player that is available in this window that the next manager might not want. The squad you have at the moment should be enough for top 4 so does it really make sense to spend big money on the squad when a new manager's coming in and ultimately if you do underachieve it could well be down to Rafa being crap so what difference would a couple of new players make? As soon as you sacked one manager and got someone in for the interim this season became predominantly about not finishing outside the top 4 again, even if RA may not have realised it at the time.
I think it's sensible. Perhaps the board have finally realised the talent we have on loan and are waiting to bring them back before any more signings?
its the fact that our managers do not seem to buy who they want and get rid of who they want, chelsea have made some great signings but i think it should be the manager who says what players he wants and who he does not want. the way i see it at the moment is somebody else is deciding who we buy and the manager then has to shape the team. I think he should at least be asked what players he would like.
Personally I think that we need a real top drawer striker to make us PL champs. A top drawer manager would win it for us, no question. I cannot believe we don't have the talent to challenge but we don't seem to be going in any particular direction. Managers are sacked at the drop of a hat and we end up back to square one. Players come and go and nobody knows where their future lies. There just seems to be a constant state of uncertanty at Chelsea and it's putting people off coming to us. ie: Guardiola. We need to have a plan of direction for the club and stick to it. We can start by binning the currently appointed idiot. Appoint someone like Moyes and give him 5 years to do it.
I was reading somewhere today that we've got 23---yes 23 players out on loan at the moment! How ridiculous that we still have to scrape a squad together to compete in 3 competitions!
Our squad at the moment is paper thin and we have games coming thick and fast. I get the program of every game I go to and the size in squads compared to ours and the opposition is ridiculous! Had we some of the 22 loan players back here then all would be good but with the amount of games coming up it will be tough
Interesting how ****e we've been without Luiz ?? He's a great player and should be back in midfield ASAP. Torres is the worst in the history of the Club. He makes Sheva look like Falcao.
The one player we miss atm = Mikel. All the CDM partnerships work best with Mikel. Say what you like, he offers a stability there we don't have. I also think we're missing Moses pretty badly as well. We're also badly missing Luiz. Awful time to lose such key players.
the sun are wondering how Rafa think his squad is small when he can have 2 teams of Chelsea's loaned out players if he want ? please log in to view this image http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...mall-Chelsea-have-23-players-out-on-loan.html
Rafa's options? I'd say it's a close call between the bucket of confetti, and the wobbly rubber plank of wood.
