Article on the mirror for those that havent read it yet:
    http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...er-stinker-against-Everton-article894434.html
Little harsh for me that rafael takes all the blame for it; although i believe dropping him may be the right idea, for me ferdy and evans were just as **** and i know it may be harsh but i honestly thought de gea could have done a bit more.
Anyone else have a little sympathy here for rafael?

Think it is a fair assessment of what I saw at the match. The young lad is OK going forward but he can be a liability at the back. Mind you the rest of the defenders have to look at themselves after Sunday and only a massive improvement next Monday night will stop us throwing the title away.

I think that article is a crock of ****.

Sure Rafael could have been tighter and challenged for the first goal... but then again Evra went missing all the time and kept allowing crosses to come in from his side.

Also think the midfield and forwards should have shut up shop and killed the game at 4-2. Just extended our lead for a second time to two goals after a rude awakening from Everton and they didn't learn from it.

(Edit) Also Rafael is a shortarse, im not sure he would have stopped the goal even if he'd been standing on Jelavic's toes.

I haven't and can't be arsed to read the article but my opinion on Rafael is, and always has been to be honest, he needs to learn to defend. Urgently. Add to that he also needs to realise the game lasts for 90+ minutes not 80 and he must concentrate for every minute of that. His positioning is poor on occasion, as is his timing in the tackle and he can be reckless. Other than that he's ace. <ok>

Yes, well if he wants to be our right back he needs to learn quicker as he does cost us goals. Two obvious avoidable ones were both late in the game when he was in dolly dreamland, the 4th v Everton and also Bilbao. Off the top of my head. Getting ridiculously sent off v Bayern also.

Are you a De Gea hater by any chance ? he had no chance with any of their goals, he nearly saved Fellaini's shot but it unfortunately went in.

No i dont hate De Gea im hoping the lad gets everything together and becomes our number one for a long time because hes got many great attributes. In my defense i did write that i may be being a little harsh; i just cant help but shake the feeling that he could have done a little more; tbh it was a stupid point to make as i havent seen the goals again since watching the game on sunday. I dont know why i just feel he could have done a little more to help the defense out

That makes no difference at all. If he's too young to be able to concentrate he should not be in the team. If he wants to do his job properly, and it is his job of work when it comes down to it, he needs to shape up. Simple as that, i don't care if he's bloody twelve.

I don't personally think he's Utd quality. An area that you could easily do better in. I guess Neville's shoes aren't easy to fill but this curly haired fellow looks a liability.

I remember when Rafael first started and Neville didn't rate him back then.

This. Ball watching for pretty much every single one of Everton's goals imo. Some of them weren't his fault, but even then he wasn't tight to his man at all. I think he struggles when he doesn't face a single winger. Man to man he can control pretty much any winger, and pin them back with his forward runs. But he struggles against a 451 or a formation with wingers that often drift inside.

He has the quality, but needs to develop the concentration and tactical awareness. He's been playing for us for four seasons now, so youth is no longer an excuse imo - needs to show mental improvement if he's to be first choice next year.

He couldn't do much on the first goal. I'm sure Moyes told Jelavic to isolate himself on Rafael on the far post as often as he could. I think his biggest issue is having to mark a stiker that has drifted out wide. As they can normally just push him around.

Agree with this. It's hard to believe he's only 21, as he's been around the first team for quite some time. It's hard to blame his age for his mental lapses as our other young players don't seem to shut off with 10 minutes left in the game. Might be a maturity issue, but it's something he just has to push himself through.

True, but he was still a good yard or two away from Jelavic when he headed it. Even a short arse should've been right up against the striker, pressuring him, giving him a sly nudge and generally making it difficult for him. Jelavic had to thread that header through the eye of a needle over the keeper and into the top corner, it wouldn't have taken much to make him miss it.
