I can't see Kenny stepping down to the number two position. Does his contract end after next season? If next season goes anything like this season I can't see his contact being renewed, despite the sickeningly awful form of recent we should let him finish what he set out to do. It's only fair he gets the chance to make some of us eat our words next season which I'm sure everyone wants him to do so despite what we think of him as manager now.

However on the subject, if Kenny was to go in the summer and Rafa came in I would not complain too much. I also wouldn't complain if it were another top manager who has a good track record on the continent. Just as long as it's not a Europa League finalist yes man with a mid-table league form.

No chance of that happening DR,even if John Henry was prepared to bring Rafa back Kenny would see it as an insult to get demoted and Rafa wouldn't want Kenny looking over his shoulder, remember the last time that situation occured at LFC?

Roy Evans got humiliated when Houlier was brought in to 'work alongside him' and in the end Evans left(he should have walked at minute one)

Anyway i back Kenny and will be happy with 2 cups(if we get the FA Cup)and European qualification in Kenny's first season.

Next season is a watershed for him and if things in the league dont improve he wont get an extention to his 2yr deal.

Just a suggestion mate, the man motivator/in and around all the players/arms around players etc side of things couple with Rafa's tactics I think it could be a formidable team

Now KK is finally back in our dug out (the man has done so much for us) I definitely still want him involved but, would like Rafa to be choosing tactics, team and players to buy to be honest (Although players Kenny has bought I think alot of them have let him down to be fair)

    Well put mate,

I just have this huge feeling that Rafa has unfinished business (and would love to see him be backed properly) and wouldn't want him ending up somewhere else (especially Chelsea).

I think KK does definitely deserve another season and if that doesnt work out then we could always poach Rafa back

I am happy with two cups if we get the FA! Just like otehr Redmen very disappointed with our league form and can not understand how we failed to land a striker even on loan or purchase in January

I'm not quite sure why so many Liverpool fans are so quick to call for Rafa back to be honest. We all like the guy and appreciate what he did for us but because Kennys not had a great year in the league you want to bring back a manager who had 5 years without delivering a title seems a bit odd. Would never happen nor would it ever work. Give Kenny the time Rafa had and then compare the two. Also bear in mind Rafa had a pretty solid base to build on when he arrived whereas Kenny has had to sweep up a lot of the mess left behing by the H&G/Roy era.

For me it was the best midfield in the world song era, and our best time in the league over the last 10-15 years despite us never really being able to beat lesser teams...not much logic really...also the fact I was on my way to getting completely bladdered when I changed my name.

Not so quick to call for him back, never wanted him gone!

Kk does deserve another season, just dont want to lose Rafa to someone else. Look at what he did for us whilst working under the cowboys

I'd like to see his team when he was backed properly by owners - and that is the reason I would like him back

It's amazing that he's still out of the job, his last season for Liverpool and 6 months at Inter have really damaged his reputation. Will always be very underrated but while Kenny is still here he get's my backing.

If Kenny was to leave, I'd welcome Rafa back and like some one said earlier, I never wanted him to leave.

I can write a list as long as my arm of awful players rafa brought...

I an also see the good he did do.

I can also see how ego made him over extend himself and alienate people.

all in all rafa has had his time we should thank him for that and move onwards and upwards. we are not losing rafa if he chooses to go to chelsea, its his choice. he'd last 6 months and be sacked! would ruin chelsea imo.

in the end if rafa came back we'd have to sack most of the staff (again) etc etc... he bought aquilani and wanted then treated keane like dirt. he bough alonso then treated him shamefully. he kept a hold of torres, gerrard and machernao... there's good and bad in all of this but in the end he ran his race and found he ended up in a bad situation.... and i nthe end if our side would take 10% of thier chances not 1.5% we'd all be talking how wonderfully the team plays in kenny's style...

Echoes my sentiments exactly! Would love to see how Benitez could do when fully backed with transfer funds. However I think overall Kenny deserves more time, but when he steps down I would love it if Benitez came back. Must admit though that I have not been as passionate about the club since a kid during the time Dalglish has been back, if for no other reason I say keep Kenny for now!

For me I don't want to go back to the negative football that was so bloody boring. sorry but thats my main thing. its an expereiment to see if rafa with money could go do better but aside from a brief period where we were behind utd by too many points and played freely (resulting in 4-1) we played in a straight jacket.... again if someone at lefc would take 10% of our chances not 1.5% (carroll and suarez are very guilty) we'd all be lauding how great it is under kenny.

lets just move on and if rafa goes to chelsea lets see who they buy and how badly it goes wrong when terry leads a 4th revolt in a row.

    That explains it <laugh>

Look none of us bear any sort of grudge against Rafa but ultimately his biggest failing for me was consistently putting Europe before domestic footy. Maybe winning the cup in '05 skewed his priorities slightly I don't know but what I do know is despite our poor league form this year Kenny of all people knows what the league means to us lot so I say give him time and a bit of patience and you never know <ok> he might deliver, he might not but I know that while he's there he will always have my support...and let's be honest...winning things with Kenny in charge just feels even more special somehow.

  17. Fixed and agreed <ok>

Kenny says in his book that he was willing to work as a number two alongside Roy Evans before we brought Gerard Houllier in so why not...? I can't see it but it is not as much as no as you made out.

There's a difference between coming in from not having a job at all at the club to being no.2 and going from being the main man on the coaching staff to no.2

No way Kenny would accept No.2

Come on how many of us would take a demotion and work under someone else.

I wouldn't be too annoyed if Rafa came back.

But I have this nagging feeling that people coming back after original times is never the same/as good.

  20. Ironically, I have been asking for exactly that for a year!

We had to make redundancies and I was one of three going for the same position which included becoming manager. I had little choice as a job is better than no job, but i never wanted the manager responsibility. If we could get the funding, I would happily let someone else be in charge.

Obviously, this is different and shows that I do not have particularly high personal ambitions <ok>
