I never thought that the Pardew hatred was particularly related to his success or lack thereof. He had some good moments and his bad moments weren't really that much worse than many, many others. I think it was more the extent to which he appointed himself as frontman for Ashley's ownership. Rafa is currently being screwed over by Ashley and clearly resents it. Pardew was screwed over by Ashley and kept saying "It's fine - - I'm loving it".
Maybe Pards is just not fattist and likes a sweaty big man having some weird hold over him. Perhaps he is just more open minded than Rafa.
