... Just ask Shelvey and Gini. It's so ****ing refreshing to see. Cannot remember any of the last few managers showing the balls to do that. Should keep the players on their toes and hopefully Colo will be kept out of the team by Lascelles and Mbemba. If those two lads stick with us next year if we did go down then they will form a dormidable partnership. They are so young too.
The difference is that none of the Managers since SBR command respect through their track record as Rafa does.
This was basically what made the team so **** with McClaren (well other than the fact he's a **** coach....), the fact Sissoko and Gini were guaranteed a place in the starting line up no matter how bad they were. If McClaren was still here he'd have left Saylor on in the 2nd half against Southampton, and Gini would have been as untounchable as ever in the first XI.
I don't think McClaren is bad coach. He just can't manage. Two very different things. I doubt Ferguson would have entertained him as a coach for very long if he wasn't decent.
Sorry that's what I meant, **** manager - i.e. a coach who should have never made the step up to management. His (dreadful) stint as England manager unfortunately fooled plenty of teams that he was a decent manager, he'd obviously been found out as what he really is well before he came to us, just Charnley saw him available on the cheap and thought he was pulling off some savvy move and his cost-cutting going to endear him to Ashley....FAIL.
Really? I never read anything about that at the time, and Charnley quotes from July strongly suggest he was his man, i.e.: Upon confirmation of McClaren's appointment, Charnley said: 'From my first meeting with Steve I knew he was the perfect fit for Newcastle United. I am delighted that we have secured the services of one of the best coaches in English football." I also love the bog-standard clichés Charnley justifies the appointment with: "He also brings with him a great enthusiasm and passion for the job, the club and the city, which he articulated to me very clearly from the outset. This is a huge job which comes with considerable pressures and I am convinced that Steve not only understands the weight of expectation that comes with this role, but that he has the strength of character and professionalism befitting of a club of our size and status." And the all-time classic, Charnley's remit for McClaren: "Steve has been tasked to secure a top eight finish in the Premier League and he is also heavily incentivised to try to win a cup competition."
McClaren couldn't secure a ****ing tent. Awful appointment and if we go down, Charnley and Carr should both be dropped head first off the Redheugh Bridge.
Exactly if any our previous managers since did it the fans would be shouting you fat ****er at him We love rafa already, so it's going to be sad when he leaves once we're officially relegated.
its is refreshing...ive been convinced we are down for a while because we have just been asking for it with all the prior nonsense, but if we can just keep hold of rafa.....its hugely important for all sorts of reasons i cant see him wanting to get involved in the lunacy of the championship though, and i dont know how productive offering him a release from his contract if we dont come straight back up would be in regards to motivating the team or promoting future stability what kick in the teeth losing our most qualified manager in years would be, mostly a result of the poor decisions that came before it. Sounds about right for us though doesnt it , ****s sake. Im rambling now though. also hello acs, you said alreet last week but i didnt get chance to reply and cant seem to post on your profile page
