Radio Solent

What listening restrictions do Solent have in place in order to listen to the game?
I have finally got round to buying a VPN and have set my location to London. I don't want to start listening at midnight to the derby, only for it to block me.

I think on match days Radio Solent online isn't regional - UK will do, unless I am mistaken?

 

You are. If I tune into Radio Solent on Freeview, I get the Bournemouth game if it’s on at the same time as Saints.

Better off setting your VPN to Southampton

 

From the North end of Hampshire (not far from Basingstoke), I try to listen to Solent commentary on Saints games via our TV signal. Occasionally I manage to get the commentary, but every so often a message comes up that the match commentary is not being broadcast via online channels. This also happens when I try to listen via my laptop, usually with the same message that the commentary is not available via online channels. But not always.
In short, the match might be available via TV or online, but it might not. As the game is on a Sunday, the normal 'restrictions' might be lifted, but the only way to test this is to try tuning in/listening. Or just get ITV, possibly via their app.

I stream by using Sonos, I signed up for ITVX, but I am not able to upload the app, unless I switch my playstore location to the UK, then apparently I won't be able to change it back for a year!

 

I think the restrictions are to do with broadcasting rights rather than geography.


If you’re VPN-ing you’re far more likely to get ITV access rather than Radio Solent access

 

Unfortunately, I only have the option of London or Manchester in England. I am using Nord.

 

Pretty sure you can watch ITV on the internet without using the app?

 

Fawanews.sc usually works for streaming.

 

Yeah this would be your best bet I'd say.

Thanks for that, however I can listen to the build up to the game up until kickoff, when it cuts away to "Unfortunately the program you are listing to, is not available from your location " or something like that. I have had a busy Sunday, and have to get up for work in the morning, so I will not stay up for the game.
Saints will have to pick up the 3 points without me. Lol
