I'm listening. I want to know exactly , if possible how and why Nigel Adkins was sacked and Mauricio Pochettino was appointed. I'm not interested in rumour. Mind you, so far I'm listening to Pochettino's interview, which is available on the Saints Player.
Some quite rational points so far, as i posted in another thread, does Cortese really think we can achieve much higher than where we are now? In my opinion we were in dreamland.
I doubt it was massive shock to Nigel...we'd all know if our boss wasn't pleased with us. The Spanish guy on Sky said that, for whatever reason, Southampton had been looking for a new manager...made it sound like that Cortese had been making enquiries and not just gone straight for MP. He also said it had all happened quickly. Perhaps the media did know more than us, though the timing surprised everyone.
Well Cortese has been quite clear that he thinks we can regularly challenge for Europe using a high proportion of home-grown players. Whether that really is possible is another question.

Cortese's masterstroke was announcing this when the team had a day off and the next match is a couple of days away. Many of us will be reconciled by then, though still sad. He may regret it is on Sky though, because a few idiots will want to be on TV...cue moron trying a pitch invasion.
It's pretty clear that this wasn't an impulse appointment, as the 'sacking' of a manager and then appointing of a new manager don't often happen at the same time. Just tuned into the show now. They're suggesting the possibility that the appointing if a new manager being partly down to the need to get the best out of Ramirez. Possible, but IMHO the appointment needs t be based on firmer reasons than just that.
