So the Dutch team have already been subjected to racist or anti-Semitic chants from sections of the crowd during a training session in Krakow. And UEFA are suprised and shocked ?? Ffs they could of asked any football fan who has ever been to Poland for a football match and they would of been told this is only the shape of things to come for this tournament. God help any Irish fans out there, gonna be a scary few days and nights for them so stay safe.
Just posted on the same lines on the Euro Ministers thread. Van Bommel very good in his response to this. Italian manager also good in his support for Balotelli. Platini turning into as big a **** as Blatter. Shame, he was a truly great player. And with 2 weeks of US food ahead of me, I predict a diet.
As you say mate, full marks to Van Bommel for his response. And why has Platini become such an arrogant, self righteous p**** since joining UEFA ?? I admired the man as a fantastic footballer but he is a compete knob as a person.
My small friend (5ft1) put on 2 stone after 2 weeks over there because there was no food to eat apart from fried food and a large portion in the UK is a small portion over there. No wonder they are all so fat!
Acknowledged by EUFA accordong to Sky: """" UEFA aware of 'isolated' chants European football's governing body acknowledge Dutch abuse Last Updated: June 8, 2012 12:31pm Holland squad were subjected to racist abuse during an open training session UEFA has acknowledged that Holland's black players were the victims of racist abuse during a training session in Krakow on Wednesday. Members of Bert van Marwijk's Euro 2012 squad were allegedly subjected to monkey chants during an open training session, with national skipper Mark van Bommel branding the incident 'a real disgrace'. Having initially been satisfied by the Dutch Football Association's belief that the abuse was not racially motivated, UEFA announced on Friday that it had been made aware of 'isolated incidents of racist chanting'. A statement released by European football's governing body read: "UEFA has now been made aware that there were some isolated incidents of racist chanting that occurred at the open training session of the Dutch team. "UEFA has not yet received any formal complaint from the KNVB." Action UEFA has also vowed to take action should there be any repeat of the incident which marred the Dutch session. The statement continued: "Should such behaviour happen at further training sessions, UEFA would evaluate the operational measures to be taken to protect the players. "UEFA has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to discriminatory behaviour and has given the power to referees to stop matches in case of any repeated racist behaviour." """"" .
And now we must wait for UEFA to try to defend the indefensible stupid decision to hold it there in the first place. They always go about using the tournaments to try to address these situations but it's too much like throwing a party for an ill-disciplined child in the hope that it'll make them reform. I hope things might be diluted when the actual games start but, if things get any worse, I might have to make a moral decision about watching it at all.
I absolutely abhor the offensive and abusive racial stereotyping going on over there and wish those disease-ridden, pikey-Nazi criminal Ural scumsuckers would desist immediately.
Flying out this afternoon Stainsey! Will stay safe. Isn't it a mad society though when you can't travel to a match without having to continuously watch your back? Just might check in to the not606 QPR family over the next 8 days and give you all a roving report......
Look forward to hearing from you out there mate and really hope I'm wrong and it's one big party for you and your mates. As I said in a previous post, hopefully the p***** will be too busy fighting each other rather than havin a pop at you. Take care.
A rye ott iss an ugly sing Just realised young frankenstein set in Transylvania not Poland. Too many beers tonight
Sadly, Platini is proving to be the typical arrogant, condescending prat he always has been. He may have been a great player but he and Blatter are cast from the same mould. They had an agreement that Platini would follow Blatter to the head of FIFA post in 2015 and Platini has helped allow Blatter to get away with murder over the past couple of years. The fact that two such arseholes can dictate much of what goes on in the game speaks volumes, if you think Euro 2012 is bad wait until the 2018 World cup in Russia and the wonderful experience that awaits the African teams in particular...
Sooperhoop Platini may well have been a GREAT player in his day, but he was coniving little s**t most of the time. Anytime he got in the opposition penalty box, he would dive to the ground, like he had been shot...Ashley Young could'nt have done it better... Stan
What palms were greased to allow this tournament to be held in those countries? The right to host tournaments has to be earned in my opinion. It also demonstrates how out of touch the likes of Blatter are with ground level football - not a surprise to anyone (but them!) I suspect.
No apologist for UEFA but when these problems are highlighted internationally it can bring huge pressure on governments (here Poland and Ukraine) to clean up unacceptable elements in the support of their domestic game. If there are incidents involving racism and racist violence during this tournament, these countries will become football pariahs until they root out the cancer...
Get your thinking Goldie, and hope it works, but I just remember the Beijing Olympics and the bleating about how it would help improve human rights, but people are still being imprisoned for speaking their minds and executed for not much more. The Ukrainian Govt is completely unembarrassed by locking up the former prime minister for 7 years, they will interpret any criticism of their handling of this tournament in fiercely nationalistic terms. Best we can hope for is their clubs being banned from European competition if the behavior is bad, and the national associations being chucked out of FIFA. Can you see UEFA/FIFA doing this?
Exclusion from FIFA? You're right, SB, probably not. And of course, great care has to be taken not to reward offending countries who then go on their merry way. But the racism on the Ukranian terraces has, thanks to programmes like Panorama, been highlighted. You have to see the problem before you can attempt to solve it. Old Europe will be watching with sceptical eyes. I can't see this issue being brushed under the carpet after the tournament, particularly with Russia hosting the World Cup in 2018.
I get so angry that Poland and Ukraine were given the honour of staging this prestigious tournament. I came across as being all morally superior and irritating on a previous thread after the Panorama documentary... and probably always will when I can't speak eye to eye with any of you about this... but GRRRR!! Plenty of you have already said it far more calmly and eloquently than I can.
