I was on site last Friday doing some groundwater sampling and gas monitoring with another engineer and a contractor. The site is in Ayr and basically South Ayrshire council are skint and need to sell this compound to get much needed funds. An old boy walks out to talk to us, not sure if he was a councillor or what, but knew the ins and outs of the deal. The contractor fella says "Why not just ask your friends at Ayr (the football team) to give you a loan" His reply caught me off guard "no chance they darkies would give us a penny. They send all their money off to banana plantations"
I thought it was funny how he just hit out with that from nowhere. We went from discussing methane in coal mines 100m underground to 'darkies' who are in charge of Ayr The engineer walked away at this point and told me not to say a word because it can get the company in alot of trouble. The contractor guy stood and talked for 5 more minutes. Reminded me of Gareth in the office talking about his dad
The most racist thing in this country is white folk not being able to tell jokes about darkies anymore.
