http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-28741394 I know it is too early to point the finger, and nothing has been proved, but with reports of abuse to Bennett's parents things seem to be moving in the wrong direction. With all the troubles around the World. Ukraine,Gaza,Iraq etc,why are so called supporters spouting "filth" like this to fellow citizens. We are fortunate to live in fairly safe and free country and respect for all should go without saying. I am well into my 60's and hoped that a more tolerant society would have emerged in my lifetime, but I seriously don't think it ever will. If racism ,or any other abuse is proven I want the Club to throw the book at them.
Can we not publicly shame them by making them walk on the Carrow Road pitch and have the supporters throw things at them and then kick them out for good? It's vile and disgusting, I don't like to see it anywhere but I especially don't want the vile scum to give our club a bad name.
It's ignorance, absolute sheer pig ignorance and I am in total agreement that I don't want scum like that anywhere near my football club. Ban em for life and stick their mugs on the front page of the EDP.
hopefully they will be identified and banned for life, you don't need scum like that tarnishing the name of your club.
Every club has their idiots.. And it's always a shame that those in that minority get the club negative headlines for all the wrong reasons. Particularly shocking is that it being aimed at your own player/family (from what I understand) Hopefully the club will act in the correct manner (I fully expect it too) and those found to be guilty will never be allowed to go to live football again
Completely agree yarco, racism is totally unacceptable anywhere, like you I´m into my 60´s also and I´m afraid I´m not seeing many signs of a more tolerant, respectful society. Even here in Scandinavia, which has always had the reputation of being fairly civilised, standards are definitely dropping, perhaps not to British levels yet, thank goodness, but there is a tendency.
credit should go to everyone who singled out the idiot(s) and stood against the racism on show. sadly, it won't happen in the media - they are more focused on making out norwich have racist fans.
They should be easy to spot, they'll have teeth growing out of their ears, webbed feet, a slow eye and a brow like a menhir. If it were at Portman Rd however, it might prove a bit tricky to pick them out.
The media have collectively hanged us out to dry, especially the firestorm which spread across twitter earlier, rather them commending the fan's who reported the incident people seemed more bothered about calling us scum, I heard that there was other incidents between Norwich fan's scuffles etc not sure if there is any substance to those stories.
Im pretty sure most football fans know that the huge majority of your fans aren't like that, and that you pride yourselves on the family image. I wouldn't worry about that too much.
Is there really any need for that? the two Ipswich supporters who´ve commented on this, have been 100% supportive, and hardly deserve that slight.
I don't recall their comments prior to mine on this thread. I don't recall this being an Ipswich Town board either.
The family club image means nothing to me, I find it a bit cringeworthy it's like something the MK Dons would use to advertise themselves. Racism is absolutely unacceptable though, hopefully one day it'll die out.
i wasn't at the match but i was also told there were a number of 'incidents' amongst our fans on sunday. all rather humiliating and in the case of the racist incident, extremely unpleasant. but it just follows on from last season i suppose. some of the things i witnessed last season made me ashamed to the point that i genuinely contemplated handing my season ticket in. yes every club has morons but we seem to have a large proportion at the moment. its all very strange and seems to have coincided with our recent premier league fling. ps. norwich are no more a family club than most others clubs. its a strange comment from people who seem to view it as a compliment. its actually incredibly patronising.
