I have just seen a comment on the player education thread by Queenslander!! that suggests that I may be a racist. Now, He dresses it up as a bit of a joke, but guess what? I'm not ****ing laughing. Full retraction expected Queenslander, or else you'd better post some examples of my racism so that I can show them to my mixed race step children. I'm sure they'd find it all very interesting. I'm waiting Queenslander.......
Col, as requested posted on the education thread. Fully aware that you have mixed race kids in your life mate Appologies if you took it the wrong way ! Q.
Is mixed race still the correct terminology? ;-) I think for the sake of this forum we need to go on a long winning streak! Every thread on here seems to be turning into a powder keg. It's all getting very serious indeed. It was a bad joke(col has every right to be upset) and has been completely retracted. Can someone start up a light hearted thread for a change, I'll have a think myself as well.....
Hope so mate as I'm of mixed race.....! Wouldnt know what i was if they changed it now !! Here's hoping Col accepts it eh? Agree with the powder keg statement though ! Lets all visit the jokes thread for a bit eh?
I tried when i tried to get all you lot to come with me on the QPR vs Villa ladies day.... a snip at £249 (+VAT as Imaz pointed out)...but the price wasn't very funny How about I am mixed race too....half Welsh!!! So..... I call a man holding a bottle of champagne after a six nations rugby match waiter ......only half the time
Same here, but thankfully my grandparents emigrated and within a few generations it will all be gone.
The point has been made. Col has NEVER to my knowledge said anything on here that could be construed as being racist or any other 'ist'. Queenslander (who's hardly any expert on such things) made what he clearly thought was a joke, and has publicly apologised on several occasions on both threads. Note on 'jokes'. Quick reminder. One person's ill-considered joke can so easily be someone else's nightmare. The 'joke' has often been used as camouflage for disrespect (i.e. 'isms') for other groups of people over the centuries. Whilst WE seem to be able to avoid racism and disability related commentary on here, we still see women, homophobic and Welsh 'jokes' on here. You will note that whilst these tend to be tolerated, that is only because we rarely receive direct complaints about it. Moving slightly off topic to create an example of the reaction of those who don't see the funny side of an inappropriate joke. Bloke (thick ****) was invited for a meeting in an office in the House of Lords. Emptying out the contents of his pockets etc. into the security scanner tray, he stupidly asked one of the guards whether that should include his gun. Hardly need to tell you the reaction but ends with 'all over him like a rash'! How do I know this? Cos the idiot that so innocently caused all the unnecessary mayhem was none other than yours truly! But you get my point though? NOTE: My reference to Welsh jokes relates to the ongoing (boring) 'sheep' stuff and not to Beth's comments made just before my thread closer (which I hadn't seen at the time and are hardly disrespectful anyway).
