Dave Swarbrick, fiddle-player supreme. R.I.P. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/jun/03/dave-swarbrick-dies-at-75-fiddler-fairport-convention
I was persuaded to go see them early 70's, they weren't really my thing but I'm glad I went - they were excellent and the flamboyant Mr Swarbrick certainly stood out, they toured with either The Strawbs or Lindisfarne ............... I'm buggered if I can remember! RIP
And has now sadly lost his last fight. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/jun/04/muhammad-ali-dies
I am of an age to have witnessed his boxing life from the start, truly a charismatic and all round good human being and undoubtedly the greatest. I clearly remember my dad and myself sitting up in the early hours of the morning to listen to his fight against Sonny Liston. RIP Mohamed Ali.
R.I.P. the Louisville Lip - you were a great example of how to be a man in racist America. You helped bring about many of the social changes. And you were a great boxer, maybe 'The Greatest'.
Woke up this morning to find out the `GREATEST` had finally lost his final battle, in this day and age, the word legend is often banded around but this man was the pure definition of that, he was and always will be a `TRUE LEGEND` of the sport. He will always remain probably the greatest sporting icon ever to grace this earth during my lifetime, RIP
The word legend is used too readily to often, in this instance it's justified. Rip legend. The greatest.
