I don't know if any of you guys will remember him, some of the older generation might. He was a player for Cardiff City after the war (i believe). He passed away on the 10th August 2013. He was a family member (My grandad's, sisters husband) attended his Funeral this afternoon, and they were on about his footballing past, so got me thinking to find out if any of you remember him. He played for Cardiff City, Newport County, Bristol Rovers, not sure where after that though.
Hi swanselona, sorry for your loss and my condolences to your family and yourself, but just found this on the net .... it seems like your relative. He was known as Harry Haddon as a player. Pos:*Inside Forward Born 8 April 1923 * *Cardiff born inside forward*Harry Haddon*began his career with his home town side but joined Bangor in the mid forties without a league appearance for the Bluebirds. *However in February 1947 Harry signed for*Newport County*where he scored once in ten League appearances.** *In November 1948 he was transferred to*Bristol Rovers*where he made 2 League appearances during the 1948-49 season.*Harry left Rovers to become player manager of Trowbridge Town. http://www.the-citizens-choice.co.uk/LeagueGradscity.html
Yeah Harry L Haddon, (I spelt his surname wrong in the title, but the edit didn't change the actual title ) I didn't know he didn't play a league game for the bluebirds though, first time I have ever met my granddad's side of the family, and it was brought up in the speech, so was wondering if any of these lot may have known him.
Sincere condolences Swanselona to you and your family. Contrary to popular opinion I wasn't around during his football career but he clearly gave it a go in Wales and the south West.
