My one and only memory of Don Clark as a player was in Jan/Feb 1951in an FA Cup tie 4th round against Brighton.
If you think changing kit when there isn't a colour clash is a modern thing, then think again. Brighton turned out in green and yellow stripes instead of their normal blue/white.

Don Clark scored the only goal from the penalty spot at the Covered End with me and loads of other kids pressed up against the railings directly behind the goal, and City were on their way to Birmingham City in the 5th round.

Don had a spell as City's Assistant Secretary but then went to work at BAC in Filton where he worked with my Dad for some time.

Of course his son Brian, who died a few years ago, also played for City in the sixties and in the 1966 promotion side.

    RIP City boys.
