This is a quote from Henderson's interview that showed up on the LFC website today:

"That gelling process doesn't just happen overnight but I think good players should be able to play with each other pretty quickly. It depends which way you look at it but, of course, it takes time for everyone to gel."

Why am i making a post on this?, well, primarily because it pretty much says he thinks the players aren't good enough. You may disagree, but saying "I think good players should be able to play with each other pretty quickly" is indirectly saying that the players aren't good enough, which is why they haven't gelled properly.

What do you think? And how do you think Hendo has done this term? Personally i believe that he has done quite well. I know he gets a lot of stick and sometimes it's justified, but it mostly isn't for two reasons. 1, he's still very young, and 2, he is one of the hardest workers in the squad. He also isn't as bad as people say, and most of the stick he gets isn't justified, Downing on the other hand, well, there is already a thread for how ****e he is. Cheers.

seems bizarre, but its still true - good players gel immediately, even if they're from another league, ie Suarez. I'm ready to draw a line under this season but saying this year has gone badly because it's taken the players a full season to gel just doesn't cut it and I think, as hendo said, the real reason is some players are just ****e, (!)

I think you're reading too much into it.

He's still only young and has shown promise in several matches this season.

I'm very fond of Henderson. I think he has been thrown in at the deep end a bit this season, which has exposed his weaknesses. But as he is young, we can expect he will have those weaknesses. He will have learnt a lot this season, which I believe will ultimately make him a better player. He just needs to establish his role in the team. I personally think he is a contender for a future England captain. He shows a lot of maturity as a person and a lot of dedication to his football. I'v heard he stays late at training a lot.

As for his comments. I think our team maybe has 2 or 3 gaps or blocks that are preventing it from gelling perfectly.

Our keeper, back four and Lucas are a solid, gelled united.

Gerrard and Suarez linking up great.

Carroll and Suarez are linking up well to now.

Gerrard is possible the only regular who can put quality crosses that suit Carroll.

But we have missing links between the defense plus Lucas and those main three attackers. We have a couple of bridges to build.

Its maybe a slip of the tongue by Henderson, or maybe he actually thinks the team is gelled well...

When Mourinho arrived at Chelsea he signed 11 new players. Some started, some sat on the bench. But it was ultimately a squad full of strangers. But those strangers were quality footballers and in their first season together they won the league.

Hmmm thats pushing it a bit. Their squad finished second in the league (behind Arsenals 'invincibles') and got to the CL semis the year before. Her also spent 1/3 of his transfer budget that summer on players he'd worked with before so they weren't all new players in the strictest sense.
