I just thought I'd bring everyone's attention to everyone (who hasn't seen it) of Tommy Smith's Tweet on Saturday:

"And for everyone asking where @officialcwood is, he is at my house still struggling to get out of my pocket ;-) love you really mate!"

Great banter and by all accounts the dangerous Chris Wood was missing all day, also a promising clean sheet against a decent team which is something no one predicted.
I've got to say that carrying anything like this form into the next month could have a monumental impact on our season, particularly as the games are coming thick and fast and we could easily pick up 9 points in a single week as easily as we could drop them, so there is real scope to drag ourselves up the table in double quick time and get in amongst our rightful place in the midtable battle in this league <ok>
Some big games coming up not least Brizzle at Home but I fancy we won't be going on such a long run without a win again this season and the good feeling about following the town is gradually coming back.

As well as we are doing, Im still a bit cautious that our only true attacking flair comes from a player who is only contracted to be here for another month. He is more than a finisher as his whole play just takes us up another notch.
Fair play and hats off to MM who has definately installed a bit of confidence and a bit of defensive knowhow. He also definately knows how to take a half time team talk. We could of been 4 or 5 down at half time on Saturday yet the second half was a complete turn around and played some very good stuff.

Aint seen you recently supers!
Part of it may well be new manager bounce but he has also tightened things up and we play with two fairly defensive/ solid central midfielders which is also helping. His teams are also less pretty on the eye but more effective then we have seen under PJ which means we now get rid rather than being pretty which turned out to be pretty stupid most of the time!
It has intelligence behind it and its not hoofball but he seems to try to get us to put balls in quickly and they are normally into an area where our striker is facing their goal and their defenders need to turn around quickly to deal with it, normally in that difficult area just outside of the 18 yard box.
Barnett, in what I have seen of him in the home games has shown plenty of willingness and seems to want to get into your face and hustle. We havent really seen any true footballing ability from him but he certainly has added something to the team.

been away for a couple of weeks. ignored football (to a degree) during that period - it made a nice change! <ok>

mick's not a hoofball manager - never has been. it annoys me when people call him that, its too lazy. what he is is direct, likes his wide men. you won't see classy football but you will see plenty of chances created from wide areas.

ignoring football - thats what the summer months are for.
I agree with you on MM and thats why I tried to expand in my last post as I didnt want people to think I was labelling it as pointless long punts up the pitch. I can see if your a purist you could dismiss it as hoofball but it would be cruel.

Ah that's good Supers, you're back and Norwich can start losing again now <ok>

McCarthy hasn't done anything incredible so far just got them organised. I was so staggered watching Paul Jewell's last games this season - the build up play was all there but the defending was worse than Sunday League. That's why, because the passing game was actually far better at the end of PJ's time than in Jim Magilton's day, McCarthy hasn't had to reinvent the wheel to get these sorts of results and you have to give credit to PJ for a lot of his work in bringing these players in.

<laugh> i'm not sure my 'being around' will affect my clubs performances yorkie!

so to paraphrase; football is a simple game made more complicated by managers. mccarthy, however, has got back to basics <ok>

I thought Smiffy was generally excellent on Saturday to the extent I was getting concerned I was somehow misreading everything I was seeing.

Very good performances all round, notwithstanding a few iffy moments early on.

As for DJ, ‘arry said this here
http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/lo...fers-dj-campbell-qpr-lifeline-82029-32398216/
The Fulham Chronicle says “But if Campbell continues to add to the eight goals he has already – Redknapp will send a fast car to get him back to west London.”

But only reports him as actually saying:

“DJ’s out on loan at the moment,” the Rs boss told the Chronicle.
“Of course, we’ll see how he goes, and if he works hard and continues to score, then you never know.”

hey jonah. the thing in your favour is that harry will no doubt want to throw a shed load of cash at their vast problems rather than look to dj campbell. i presume other championship clubs will be sniffing around him though if he continues his excellent scoring form <ok>

DJ Isn't named in their provisional 25 man squad and is fifth choice striker so there is a realistic chance that we will keep him. I reckon Harry is basically upping the ante to get a better fee for him as DJ is out of contract in the summer.

Dj is here with until the window opens so i can't see a problem we will either sign him or get someone else to lead the charge.

That is no cause for concern as DJ has said that he loves it here and if MM wants him and Harry has no objections then Marcus will put his hand in his pocket!

The EADT journo who did the webchat today (so I see anyway – I’m freezing my nuts of in a Swedish hotel right now; a curious notion of what constitutes central heating in a supposedly top end establishment, imo) was reasonably confident of DJ signing in Jan. You never know. He also reckoned we’d sign Barnett and Orr on proper deals.

Then there’s N’Daw and Murphy who are effectively frees at the end of their loans – I wouldn’t have though we could afford their wages. Isn’t N’Daw supposed to on something particularly hideous?
