I think your logic is wrong here regarding Prince. If you are looking for resale value you don't go and buy the elder brother who has not performed at Bolton. That would be like buying a six year old Rover 75 for its resale value. The Jiminez and Vetere investments will be in the Evina's of this world whoat the same time Chris P would like to have in his squad. They are the ones where we are polishing the chrome in the hope of resale value. On that basis I see Alonso as being a CP buy
I think like most scouting/manager relationship, Vetere approached CP and notified him that he was possibly available. Showed him footage and a dossier on fitness records, games played etc etc. At that point CP decided whether he would like to pursue the player or not. I'm sure JV has mentioned tons of players to Chrissy.
