I've sat on this and thought about this, a lot. I've questioned myself and interrogated everything that's been published and recorded but can't seem to get to the bottom of many, many aspects of the decisions that have been made by City in the past month. So here is my view, and my questions for the people running our club http://exiledrobin.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/the-bristol-city-board-who-is.html Feedback is as welcome as ever, and would love to hear the additional questions you'd want answers too, just in case - in a very unlikely twist - I ever get the chance to quiz someone directly.
it probably wasnt your idea to do it, but i feel really depressed after that read, great piece though all the same, and as many others i dont know and will probably never know the answers to your raised questions!!!
Lots of good points and un-answered issues, makes you wonder how much lower we will sink before we consolidate, not a happy place to be, constructive article mate and well written, it makes you think..
Well written piece as usual but thoroughly depressing at the same time. We remain a rudderless ship with the owner being way to precious over what he's spent, and the rest of them just playing at being a professional board of directors when they are anything but. They appoint a new manager, apparently because he's friends with Keith Dawe...? No interview process no due diligence, just another knee jerk reaction. I really hope Cotts does well, but does he really have a chance at this point in time ? Doubtful I'd say. I honestly still believe that if a buyer could be found, then the best thing that could happen would be for SL to sell up and let someone else have a go because we are still going backwards as a club under his ownership. However, no-one in their right mind would want to buy the white elephant that is BCFC right now. Still, Happy Christmas. On the plus side can 2014 really be much worse than the majority of 2013 under SOD was ?
When the exiled robin pens words of this critical magnitude then I am totally convinced that my pleadings over the last year or so are well founded. Clearly we are sinking fast and the officers in charge haven't got a clue what they are supposed to do, or at least if they do they aren't going to tell us mere mortals. We all realise that having a leader in Steve Lansdown coupled with his wealth should be a good thing but when it leads to gross misspending and poor hiring strategies it will inevitably lead to disaster. I have recognised a strange and uncomfortable arrogance in him that clearly has rubbed off on his son which has led to a false feeling that they can do no wrong which, as our current state of affairs will verify, is further from the truth than is acceptable. There have been many posts on this site that have laid the potential blame firmly at the feet of the board and despite many protestations from our leaders, and other posters on this site, their words now have an hollow ring especially when you read their worst fears coming alive in exiled robins well written article. Thank you for your honesty exiled robin and in your words you have given some comfort to your readers by revealing what most of us believed to be the truth about the behind the scenes goings on at Ashton Gate, but on the other side of that coin is that you paint a very probable bleak future for Bristol City. The saddest part about all this is that it could, and should, have been so different don't you think?
As I think I've said many times, he strikes me as a smug and arrogant person. Being a billionaire probably has something to do with it, but is he the best person at the helm of the club ? IMHO no he's not.
Sometimes your benefactor can become an irritant particularly when there is clear meddling in the wrong departments.
Surprised there have been so little response to this well written blog by exiled robin. I suspect very strongly that his apparent smug arrogance was the reason a certain short term ex-manager left the nest early.
Agree with every word of your blog. We seem to be a rudderless ship without a captain so how about SL following the Hull City owner and rebranding Bristol City; I suggest Marie Celeste FC?
I think that this blog is the most truthful and hard hitting piece of evidence highlighting the lack of commitment from the people, who above all else, should be the front runners in everything Bristol City. The simple fact of the matter is that they are anything but! How insulting is their holier than thou attitude to the supporters who put their hard earned money on the table week in and week out to watch the rubbish that purports to be our football team. If you would like I could always send Toronto mayor Rob Ford to run the show for you and he would bring them back up to speed and crack the whip.
At least he's visible, doesn't hide in the shadows and he certainly doesn't appear to take any crap from others.
