Hi, I'm an poster on an Everton forum called Nsno and was wondering if I could ask some questions to your fans with our match coming up. If it's okay then I'll just take the five to post in this thread and then once everything is written up it'll go on the front page of the site and I'll send you the link Here are the questions: 1) How do you rate your team based on the opening few games of the season? 2) Which Swansea player do you think will stand out most this season? 3) What are your early thoughts on how Laudrup has done so far and do you think he'll be more of an success than Rodgers was at Swansea? 4) Where do you expect to finish? 5) What players are most likely to punish Everton on Saturday? 6) What areas of your team can Everton exploit? 7) Which Everton players do you rate most? 8) What are your thoughts on David Moyes? 9) Who is your best and worst player? 10) Lastly, What's your score prediction? Thanks, Shogun.
1) 7/10 - plenty to improve on and we've not met any of the big boys yet. 2) Dyer - consistently brilliant and a workhorse 3) Great. He's got us to pass the ball forward and create more opportunities 4) 11th 5) Dyer and Hernandez (think he'll get in ahead of Routledge) 6) Our defence is a bit depleted at the moment 7) Fellaini, Baines 8) One of the best managers in the PL. If he had more of a budget I'm sure you would have hit Champions League at least once in his tenure. 9) Best - tough one but I'll go for Dyer. Worst - all our players put in maximum effort but a couple are short on the ability front. I wouldn't want to put any of our players down though. 10) Unfortunately given our defence issues and the way you've been playing (though your 2nd half last night wasn't great but you were robbed by the ref) I'm going for 1-2 to the Toffees
1) How do you rate your team based on the opening few games of the season? We are looking good. More dangerous in the last 3rd than last year. We still haven't got strength in depth at the back and that could be our undoing. Us Jacks are pretty realistic and most of us are just grateful to be here, we'd take avoiding relegation every year...but the way we started a top 10 finish looked achievable for this team...and then our left back Taylor got injured for the season, then our new centre-half (Chico) got suspended and then the guy who would have stepped in (Bartley) got injured for 3 months also. We're left with a patched up defence which will cost us points in the short term at least. 2) Which Swansea player do you think will stand out most this season? Toss up between Michu (a tall goal scoring midfielder who plays just off our striker and gets stuck in) or Pablo Hernandez (a winger who has created and scored goals consistently at Valencia) 3) What are your early thoughts on how Laudrup has done so far and do you think he'll be more of an success than Rodgers was at Swansea? Laudrup has impressed everyone down here both with his approach in interviews, the quality of his new recruits and the way he is methodically sorting through the squad...letting the right players leave and recruiting in the right positions. People I know who have met him have all commented on how down to earth he is and have had a positive experience. We all hope he will go on to surpass Rodgers. For me that would simply mean staying up...much bigger challenge than last year. Laudrup has had to contend with 2 established players in the first XI leaving and fill the holes left by last season's loanees Caulker and Siggurdsson. Other key members of the team have been linked with moves away....he has had a lot on his plate. 4) Where do you expect to finish? Between 10th and 15th, but would take 17th right now if offered. 5) What players are most likely to punish Everton on Saturday? Hopefully Leon Britton can secure us more possession than you, our best chance of getting a result is to keep you on the back foot. 6) What areas of your team can Everton exploit? We are very weak at the back and in the air. If you press us and get a decent share of possession there will be lots of opportunities for you. 7) Which Everton players do you rate most? Feillaini 8) What are your thoughts on David Moyes? Top, top manager. Criminal that Rodgers gets his chance at a club with a massive budget before Moyes. Shocked Chelsea didn't go for him. 9) Who is your best and worst player? Best - I rate Nathan Dyer as highly as anyone else in our squad Worst - Alan Tate (sorry Tate fans!) 10) Lastly, What's your score prediction? 3 - 2 Everton
1) How do you rate your team based on the opening few games of the season? Highly. Much better than last season imo. We look like we can actually hurt teams for once. With our 'normal' defensive lineup we won't concede much either but as others have said we're very much depleted and that's going to cost us I fear. 2) Which Swansea player do you think will stand out most this season? Probably Michu who looks the real deal. But Pablo Hernandez looked fantastic when he came on the other day. Could be him. 3) What are your early thoughts on how Laudrup has done so far and do you think he'll be more of an success than Rodgers was at Swansea? Laudrup has surprised most of us so far. He's obviously on a steep learning curve and won't know much about our opposition each week but others like Allan Curtis are on hand. Tactically he looks miles away from only-one-way-Rodgers. Time will tell but he may well give us greater success than Rodgers. 4) Where do you expect to finish? Mid-table again. I'd be delighted if we sneak into the top half. 5) What players are most likely to punish Everton on Saturday? If Michu carries on the way he's been going he'll hurt you. But I expect our wingers to really get at you so watch out for Dyer, Routledge/ Hernandez. 6) What areas of your team can Everton exploit? We're decimated at the back right now and Williams has been guilty of 2 howlers in 2 games. Tate is poor at this level despite having a good game at Villa. He does tend to switch off 2 or 3 times in games and you just can't do that at this level. 7) Which Everton players do you rate most? Feillaini and Baines. Howard is an excellent keeper. 8) What are your thoughts on David Moyes? Almost certainly one of the best managers in the Prem. Could have achieved Champions League with a bigger budget. Gets his team set up so that they are difficult to beat (don't we know it) but never seems to park the bus. Goals can come from anywhere with Everton and I rate them highly. 9) Who is your best and worst player? Of the likely starting 11 on Saturday Michu is turning into a real star for us but I think that Hernandez might eclipse him eventually (Champions League experience and he's played for Spain). We've drafted in third choice Allan Tate at CB for Saturday and whilst being a great servant to our Club throughout all the divisions he's not a Premiership player I'm afraid. 10) Lastly, What's your score prediction? Despite the above I think we'll 'click' on Saturday and Laudrup will get it right. I can't see a clean sheet unless Williams & Tate really up their game but you never know. As always, it's a guess - 2-1 Swans. Nice post
Lets let everton know our strengths and weaknesses .....why dont you... Feed them false information if you have to tell them anything...
Dai, he's joking !! David Moyes didn't post this, it was Tony Pulis as he clearly knows bugger all about football. Rugby yes, football no.
Learned this in the forces....Never give anything away to your enemy, let them make up their own decisions on what strengths and weaknesses we have, don't bloody give them confirmation and make it easy for them..
