    Guys,

Don't know if there's a 'general chat'-topic in the Charlton forum, thats why I masde a new thread with some questions.

    1) Do you know if there's some good footballiterature about:
    - Charlton
    - London football
    - Londons footballrivalries
Maybe u have some good titles for me, I live in Holland so it isn't easy for me to go the London bookstores.

    2) Does anyone know which clubs are going up to League Two? Is there a London club that will get promoted (I know Barnet's relegated.. bad luck for Edgar).

    3) In december, I'll come to London to write a book about London football:

The last 5 years, I've seen a lot of London football. I’ve visited home-matches of Charlton, Spurs, West-Ham and Fulham. I always travelled from the Netherlands to London, only for that one game that made me feel that special. Nowadays, it feels like I’ve developed an addiction.. Every time I leave London (football), I want to return as quick as possible, especially to the Valley, the homeground of my favourite club in London.

Now, I’ve made a clear decision for myself. In December 2013 I will leave my country for 5/6 weeks and I want to go live in London. My love for London football is that big that I want to be part of it during a longer period. In this period, I have a clear goal: visit all of the London professional football clubs (Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Fulham, Queens Park Rangers, Millwall, Charlton Athletic, Crystal Palace, Brentford, Leyton Orient, Dagenham & Redbridge and AFC Wimbledon).

I want to write and make pictures about my journey, the matches, the clubs and the typical ambiance within and around the stadiums. I want to get in touch with the supporters, the fans, the clubs, the players, the pub owners: I want to get involved and I want to know what London football is about! If I want to succeed, I’ll probably need your help

So my question: can u guys help me? Do you have any ideas/adresses or what so ever! Everything helps:)
And In your eyes, what would be interesting to write about when I'm in London for 5 weeks?

Have you ever thought about writing a history of Dutch players in England (or perhaps in the UK)? That might sell in the Netherlands. Their playing histories and anecdotes, their views about the similarities and differences between the two nations' soccer. English fans' and managers' views about them.

A famous English player, Len Shackleton, once included a chapter in his autobiography entitled "The Average Director's Knowledge of Football". It consisted of a single blank white page. You could do something similar about Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's Charlton career, but make it a single black page.

There's already quiet some literature about this subject. I want to get to experience the typical footballculture, but I'm not a professional writer. That's why I want to keep things small..

Haha, nice one! Wrote it down in my 'idea-book';)

Sounds predictable but have you read nick Hornby's fever pitch? As good as any place to start.

Manchester united ruined my life is a great insight into football fans rivalries although obviously not specific to London.

Also as back ground reading one of the soccernomics books. Like why England loose.

Inverting the pyramid gives a great insight into how national culture effects football styles.

Read the last 3 books then ask the question "what is London" or "is there any such thing as London football" i think as an outsider you will be shocked at the answers you come up with.

    Hope that helps

Garry Nelson wrote a book about a nothing season in the life of Charlton, called 'Left foot forward', which I reckon was a great view of the life of a tier 2 proffsional footballer, while our ex manager and semi God, Alan Curbishley wrote (in my opinión) a terribly boring book about his life at the Valley.
Charlton literatura from the sublime to the ridiculous.

    1) Not a London book, but 'She stood there laughing' is a very good book about a Stoke fan who lives in Norwich.

    2) Mansfield Town (East Midlands) and either Wrexham or Newport County (both Wales)

    3) Don't bother with Dagenham. According to their fans, they're just a pub team in Essex, so neither professional nor in London
