Are Mods allowed to vote on this?

if so, my answer is yes. If that poster is destroying the board or driving posters away then action must be taken.

You may get a better response if you unsticky for a while as stickys sometimes get over looked.

I'm not into anyone getting banned unless it's for regular and constant verbal abuse forum wide.

There are plenty of people who irritate each other on all forums, let's be honest, anyone can use the ignore button if they find someone irritating.

I applaud you Minxy for putting it out there to get an overall opinion from all members......<applause>

No if a poster constantly irritates you don't read their posts.

If the answer is no then what is the real point in having Moderators for each club? As far as I understand it, these guys are unpaid volunteers who, sometimes have to put up with a lot of crap because of other people arguing - if you don't allow them to moderate why would they do it?

In the case you are talking about, it was obvious quite a few people were irritated by the actions of one and blatantly our site Moderators tried to pull the situation into line. The fact that they were so even handed and tried actually frustrated those who were irritated and they made that well known and it was also obvious that a fair few posters left because of one. Some have returned since the ban so should the site be run to suit the majority or should it just be a podium for free speech for all?

I have issues with one Poster and have chosen to use the ignore function (despite encouragement to just say what I think) because I do not want the situation to irritate the majority - as I see it this should be about the enjoyment of the majority. If my actions led to warnings and ultimately a ban not only would I accept it and go play elsewhere, I would also say I would have to be a pretty stubborn individual to stay and watch while people are leaving because of me without addressing the behaviour that is causing it.

There have been words since the ban about whether it is right or wrong and whether the site should be more serious etc but I will say, it is firmly my view, if this action had not been taken, even more Posters would have left and the board would be far poorer as a result so back your MODS!

Its a difficult one as not everything is black n white.

Have to admit the poster in question was given multiple warnings

There are people who left the board and refused to come back whilst the irritant was here, as word gets out they are starting to migrate back from other sites. That should tell you all you need to know IMO.

Perhaps some sort of threshold could be implemented by our own mods (if it isn't already in place).
If one poster specifically asks that a certain personal jibe that might be meant as banter but causes distress stop then that should be respected, and if ignored then the sanction route be commenced.
This board is unlike just about every other on 606 in that it is 80% banter and wind ups..... But no malice or upset is generally meant nor is any taken and it is the best thing about the place IMVHO.
I would guess we as a group have one of the best histories of meeting up socially at games by ourselves or with members of other boards. it's what makes the place what it is, and if it was lost a number of people wouldn't be here. Is it cliquey (I don't think so).

The board by and large polices itself, it is brilliantly moderated by the father, the son and the holy ghost. and to me the democratic way they way they moderate by discussing and in effect voting seems the best available option. I voted no change in your poll even though I am probably at future risk of a ban because I, like those who IMO make this place the best LUFC forum on the internet do fish along the line of acceptibility and sometimes push the envelope. The people here are my friends and I will always stand and be counted when the chips are down even while we take the pi55 out of each other on here. I even went out of my way to assist our dear departed brother in the recent past when he was wronged in real life. others would do the same for me.......

Sorry, Minxy, but you're asking an open question with many varibles, and expecting a closed answer. The honest answer from me would be "It depends".

If LeedsPoshBird irritated 4 or 5 vocal people, but 20-30 were quietly amused by her provocative 'banter', would you act on the word of the noisy minority if one of them complained? Or would you ask those who are irritated to utilise the 'ignore' button? Indeed, would you even consult the silent majority? It depends ...

If popular LeedsPoshBloke and 4 or 5 cronies bullied unpopular LeedsPoshBird, would you act if LeedsPoshBird complained? Would you have to wait for the complaint? Would Mods have the discression to decide that it was more prudent instead to ban LeedsPoshBird? It depends ...

You can't win being a Mod, but then you know that. Now if you had a detailed sanctions escalator defined & published, you would hae something specific to refer to.

Wow, not a black and white answer...

    1) What was Clivetime officially banned for? I could take him or leave him, he didn't bother me.
    2) What was Sheldon officially banned for, I nearly quit the forum because of him and the thought of him returning would be horrific.
    3) I found Leeds60 incredibly annoying, glad he got banned but for me he was worse than Clivetime by a long way but nowhere near as bad as Sheldon

Reading through some other points, Marcus makes a valid point. Super mods can't be here 24/7 they only scratch the service of what seems a problem. If the Leeds mods made a decision based on what they see daily and the majority on here disagree then the issue/complaint should be to a super mod about the mods.

That made me laugh after the original post you gave ;)

I am asking fans to vote ... ie closed

but have also ask for opinions to be explained by one post in this thread ... plenty of room for them to offer their opinion

    Contact MalteseMick - the owner

Good luck - cos he basically doesn't like banning people (except for porn or spam) - hence the General Chat idiots survive
