could rangers have joined the english set up?

not being rude to the scotish leagues but it could have been a golden chance if possible to start playing in the english league system. you could argue that the championship is a higher level of football than the SPL and you guys have the fan base to be EPL side and do well in it ( top 10 club).

anyway GL for the future guys

The big wigs at the Football League were asked about Rangers joining their setup and they said that although they have a few Welsh teams they did not want to open the door for Scottish teams.

The head of the conference was also asked about Rangers inclusion and he said that they could not accomodate the amount of support and pay for the policing that would come with it (waiting for timmy jokes here).

And we couldn't join the Premier League for the simple fact that we couldn't expect just to pull out of 1 league and jump in at the top tier of English football.

The idea of an "Atlantic League" was spoke about a few years ago including Scottish, Scandanavian and Dutch teams among many more, but this was simply an idea and I couldn't see this happening anytime soon.
