v Saturday 23rd November 2013 3pm Kick-Off Referee: Dean Whitestone So after the final International Break of the season (Games wont be stopping for England v Denmark in March) we return to league action with a short trip across London where we find ourselves facing the second of the relegated teams this season... Queens Park Rangers. After surviving on the last day of the season two years ago, it wasnt to be last year for our London neighbours even the hiring of experienced Manager Harry Redknapp midway through the season couldnt save the Hoops and were subsequently relegated after a drab 0-0 affair with Reading. The Opposition Backed by the Millions of Tony Fernandez (owner of Air Asia who not surprisingly are also QPRs shirt sponsors), Queens Park Rangers, after shipping out a number of players (Djibil Cisse / Park Ji-Sung / Jose Bosingwa etc...) have had a strong start to the season and find themselves right in the promotion hunt, having only been defeated once this season (away at Burnley) Charlton find themselves going to a ground which has to witness defeat, although as past seasons have shown, Charlton do have a small habit of ending such records. Key Men Although Queens Park Rangers have shipped out a lot of "dead wood" as it were they've still managed to strength their squad by bringing in some experienced Championship players, including: Charlie Austin and Karl Henry from Burnley and Wolves respectively, whilst Richard Dunne in the centre of defence and Rob Green (once a Charlton target) in Goal provide strength and stability at the back. Previous Meetings 26.12.2008 - Charlton Athletic 2-2 Queens Park Rangers (Bailey; Cook, Blackstock) 25.11.2008 - Queens Park Rangers 2-1 Charlton Athletic (Blackstock; Racon) 19.04.2008 - Queens Park Rangers 1-0 Charlton Athletic (Blackstock) 27.10.2007 - Charlton Athletic 2-2 Queens Park Rangers (Bolder) Charlton Team News Chris Powell has confirmed this week that Yann Kermorgant came through the Leeds match unscathed and should make an appearance against QPR this Weekend, it remains to be seen whether that means Church will drop to the bench or whether a Midfielder will drop out, should the big Frenchman start. Also confirmed is Richard Wood who could regain his starting place after recovering from a dead leg... Leon Cort and Chris Solly who has started training outside are our only real absentees for the Weekend. The Referee After the shocking performance put in by the Ref for our last game against Leeds, I've decided to add a feature on the Referee each Weekend so those attending the match have some idea who the idiot in black is... Will be travelling from: Northampton Matches This Season: 9 (two in the Championship) Yellow / Red Cards: 20 / 2 Penalties Awarded: 1 (Leyton Orient v Coventry City) Last Charlton Match: Millwall 0-0 Charlton (01/12/2012) A4L's Prediction: 1-0 (Kermorgant) Good Luck to all those travelling to Loftus Road this Weekend especially to our own V-a-V, hope you get to see a great match and if your planning on travelling via. Public Transport note that there are Engineering works on the Jubilee and Northern lines around Charing Cross
Great thread, A4L, love the feature on the ref. Almost certainly CP will dispense with at least one winger, probably Harriott, for Kermit. He may also drop Stewart for Pritchard. If Wood's fit he should resume his partnership with Morro, which will give me a bit of confidence. 1-1(Church)
Cheers FHB... Am back in work now so will take me a bit longer to do the Threads and almost forgot to do this one Forgot to add as well my line-up prediction which I think will be (after a bit of thought): Hamer Wilson - Morrison - Wood - Wiggins Pritchard - Cousins - Stephens Jackson Kermorgant - Church
Feeling optimistic about this one 4-0. Joking, really not sure whats going to happen, will either be us winning a tight game with a wonderful display or completely outplayed 4-0 drubbing. Hoping for the best though lads
Small note to remember... For the last four years in November we win one match by scoring 5-goals... 2012-13 - Cardiff City (5-4) - 6th November 2011-12 - Preston North End (5-2) 5th November 2010-11 - Peterborough United (5-1) 13th November 2009-10 - Milton Keynes Dons (5-1) 14th November
Cheers a4 I am heading over to West London with the junior VolauVents. Looking forward to it, I love London derbies where we are under a roof and have sold out. Should be a cracking atmosphere today. I will try to get a few updates on if I can see my phone through the flare smoke
Am off soon, really looking forward to this one. I can only see one result, but you never know. How about wearing a pink carnation Vol so I can pick you out and say hello.
QPR fan here in peace. Firstly let me say thats it a bit of a shame whats happened to you guys since Curbs went & Ive always been a fan of Powell so would like to see him do well (except tonight of course) From memory our game always use to be a good watch (Ive only been here 4 years) and never too much needle. Obviously I hope we beat you guys but wish you welll for the season.... Maybe Powel should take his boots this week?
Squad has been announced: Hamer Wilson - Morrison - Dervite - Wiggins Pritchard - Cousins - Stephens - Stewart Jackson Church Bench: Alnwick, Hughes, Evina, Wood, Harriott, Sordell, Kermorgant. So pretty much the same side as per the 4-2 defeat last time out against Leeds... Wood returns to the bench in place of youngster Harry Lennon whilst Pritchard comes in for Harriott as we look to be a bit more defensive.
For those unable to get to the game today (like myself)... through reading on the QPR Forums, Queens Park Rangers have signed up with a Malaysian company to show some of their games across this season on YouTube IF your living in Malaysia. Todays match against Charlton is the first match to be selected although living in England with English connections we're unable to view the match... Thankfully a friendly QPR fan has posted on their Forum how to get around this and make your computer think your based in Malaysia (this isnt illegal apparently). If you want to watch the match follow the below steps... Does seem to work as well (although there is just a countdown clock at the moment) In firefox preferences choose the 'advanced' tab, and then choose 'network' Below that, next to where it says ' Configure how Firefox connects to the Internet' click the 'settings…' button. This will bring up the proxy configuration window. It'll probably be set to 'No Proxy' Choose the 'Manual proxy configuration' option and type in the numbers 60.51.218.180 port 8080.
