Queens Park Rangers have launched an internal investigation into allegations of racism made against youth coach Mark Langton.

The Premier League's bottom club is in the midst of a revamp of their youth structure and recently released several players.

One of those contacted QPR to make an allegation of racist abuse.

The club said the full-time coach has been suspended pending an internal investigation.

Queens Park Rangers are fighting for their Premier League future, five points from safety with 15 games remaining.

Rangers have done this exactly right. These are young players who rely on the recommendations and goodwill of the coaches to achieve their dream. This gives the coach a lot of power, which can, in certain circumstanced, be abused.

There is an equally good chance that far from being 'sour-grapes', the player might simply not have been in a position to risk his future by making a complaint while contracted to the club. Once released by the club he would be free to air his grievances without fear of sanction or scapegoating by a disgruntled superior.

QPR have taken the allegation seriously, suspended the coach (not sacked him) pending investigations. Credit to the club and management for taking it seriously and not attempting to hush it up.
