Watched an old Poirot last night. David Suchet is terrific, but the books are far better. I read them all and never guessed the murderer once. Agatha Christie gives you all the information you need as well, but she leads you up and down the garden path and over the hills and far away with her red herrings. She's brilliant.
we recently finished The Act - think it was on hulu. downloaded it. was recommended by a friend of the wifes. chernobyl was brilliant. The Boys was funny on amazon prime. The Outsider is supposed to be good - anyone seen it?
There’s always a temptation to claim that things were better “back in the day” , but having to resort to watching 16 hours of TV a day...there’s no doubt that British dramas in the 70s and 80s were vastly superior. Last night on the Sony channel they were showing the Persuaders from 1971-72. What a superb show. Top quality casts and well written.
Sunday used to consist of a game of Killer at the local, Sunday lunch, then the Persuaders, 40 winks, then back for a swift half. (I was single btw, in a flat-share). BBC also used to give unknown writers a hand up then, at less cost.
Instead of wasting your time watching TV why not do something useful and throw out your programme collection?
