If there were inspectors on at least half the journeys passengers went on they would pay for the fear of being caught.

Plain clothed inspectors at barriers would be better.

As long as they were not dressed like you<laugh>

Jokes aside, I can't see how plain clothes inspectors will help.
Inspectors should be in uniform, as a deterrent.

Plain clothes will not stop somebody 'jumping' a barrier, then pounce.

I take your point. I forgot that people actually jump over the barriers.
Quite a painful and embarrassing tumble (I hope) for those who don't quite make it.

A good mate of mine is a ticket inspector, the abuse he gets is horrendous. Same as my dad on the buses

Questioning people bulls******* why their card is invalid/saying they have no money and 'only' going 2 stops.

    The list is endless.

Middle class women are the worst apparently. Dad will never do the Brixton to Liverpool Street buses again! Kids are great because they don’t care if they get on or not

Middle class women are waiting for the Labour Party to promise free travel for all UK citizens after the election, this will be on a new 'Nationalised Bus Service' which the University of Greenwich will say will be profitable for the Treasury after seven years even though bus travel will be free.

Just over an hour to go until Attenborough. He's in Oz this week. Don't worry, he won't be visiting the gigantic coal mine which is opening there.

I hope he won't be climbing up Ayers Rock.
The locals consider it a sacred site.

The furore goes on over the Royal interview. Even if he was not guilty of having sex with a 17-year-old who had been trafficked for him, he was happy to have as a friend a revolting sex offender and paedophile who had committed disgusting crimes. There was no moral condemnation at all. This will not go away.

The Queen can't sack him but I can't see a future role for him in the Royal Family.

The Monarchy is a farce - let’s be honest, who is really interested ? I don’t know anybody who is.

Her Majesty has done a magnificent job but they should wrap it up on the sad day that she passes.

The Instutution of the Monarchy is too integral to the unwritten constitution.
The State needs a figurehead for the people to swear allegiance to.
The last thing we need is a President.
I'm never going to swear allegiance to Tony Blair.

The biggest problem we face now is that the next Monarch will be far too much like a President.
Prince Charles is far too politically active.
    The same goes for William.

The Monarch must be totally neutral, with no political opinions whatsoever.
Their neutrality and their lack of political power are essential to their functioning as part of our constitution.
They must be impartial in all things.

Even the charitable work the Royals do is political.
All of that stuff should be completely disassociated from them.
The only thing they should do as youngsters is serve in the armed forces.
And of course go on royal tours, to boost tourism and represent our country.

Politics and Royalty should never have mixed again after the English Civil War.
But they have, and it's getting worse.
