    One of Peter Sellers' last films was "Being There", about a simple gardener who by a series of misunderstandings ended up President of the US of A. Having Liz Truss as PM reminded me of that film for some reason.

    She has been undone by eight short local radio interviews.
    Imagine how she would disintegrate in a face-to-face meeting with a serious opposite number. Never mind a tyrant like Putin.

    Boris Johnson's 'Peppa Pig World' speech sounds positively statesmanlike compared to what we heard today.

    Monday October 10th - 9pm BBC2;
    Third and last series of 'Rise of the Nazis' begins.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001d1nk

    I found the first two series very interesting, especially the first series, which described the terrible web of political skulduggery which led to Hitler being named Chancellor back in 1933.
    The third series documents his downfall from 1944 to 1945 I believe.

    Just what we need - a TV drama about WAGS Varney & Rooney and their social media court case;

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-63230645

    I'd rather be shot than forced to watch that.

    Interesting seeing Kenneth Branarghhh doing a quite good Boris Johnson on some adverts for another drama called 'This England'.
    But I haven't actually watched the programme. Not sure the likeness would hold up after more than a few seconds.

    Our Frozen Planet tonight features scientific predictions of rising sea levels. Roland may regret not selling The Valley while he had the chance.

    Gave football a miss to watch Spike (Milligan) at Richmond theatre which was a birthday present from FHB jnr., who knows I love the man. An affectionate tribute to the great man written by Ian Hislop. The BBC didn't come out of it too well but all the Goons did. For quite a while Spike was paid considerably less than the other 2 despite writing all the episodes.

    Just starting to watch FIFA uncovered on Netflix. Fascinating and sickening in equal parts. That whole organisation needs tearing down and replacing.

    Most of the delegates who chose QATAR! for the W/C have gone now, but the new lot don't seem much better.
