If we only sign two players then that will be the soul reason as to why Pardew kept his job.

Our summer business should be so simple to conclude it's unbelievable.

Out should go Williamson, Gosling, Obertan & Shola.

And then we should bring in a CB, two strikers and a winger all of which should already have first team experience at a high level with a good track record of staying injury free.

I agree with Sir Bobby, except for Willo going out. As long as he's a 5th choice, he's a good option to have.

He's not good enough to rely on for 20+ games a season, but it's not the lads fault that he's been forced to do that, it's the clubs fault for not buying players.

Willo is good enough to be a bench warmer. We should get another CB in, but no point in selling unless we get someone to replace him. We need another quality CB seeing as how Saylor will most likely not last the full season, and we cannot hope that Colo and Mbiwa stay fit.

Also, our PL status is more important, but I'm sure we'd like a good cup run. So we'll need good fringe players to play in the cup games. Willo could be useful with that.

If our owners and manager think we only need one new striker then we're in for more disappointment. Unsurprisingly.

We all know 2 is not enough and we need to offload some of the fringe squad members as well. Again we are asking the same question of MA Do you have ambition for your club to move forward?
I really do not want to hear him say the January signings were summer ones brought forward. They were brought in to help us survive in order to get a slice of the new tv revenue coming in.

Exactly how I see the players we need. I have to say though, Mark Douglas is not the most reliable source of information and this looks like more guess work on his part. We'll just have to wait and see.

I can see us spending big on the development squad though.
From the main squad though. I'd like to see Gosling, Overan, Shola (for £2m) and Willo go.

It'll be a sad day for Shola if he leaves, but I think if the right offer was made to him I'd let him go on a free for all his loyal service.

And this is why Pardew stayed ladies and gentleman. To the person who asked how I knew Pardew didn't have any say in transfer policy - here is why. You'd almost feel sorry for him if he wasn't such a bottomfeeding cretin.

My pessimism was not for nothing.

I think he needs to leave asap. Mainly because he's been a loyal servant and should be respected by fans, problem is that he's worse than he's ever been at present and he could end up being remembered for all the wrong reasons if he sticks around for another year.

Couldn't find it in me to feel sorry for Pards, he's being paid well enough to be able to take the flak for his failings.

    Amusing and sad-making little article:

    http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/newcastle-uniteds-summer-transfer-plan-revealed/

Here is our lucky 13 point guide -

    1. Newcastle linked with every professional player in the northern hemisphere during June.
    2. Into July and still haven’t bought anyone.
    3. Club put out info via friendly journalists that they won’t be held to ransom…
    4. All other Premier League clubs buying players.
    5. Alan Pardew says so difficult to get players over the line….
    6. Pardew says Shola, Gosling, Williamson and Obertan are flying in training.
    7. Pardew says kids have really come on over the Summer (when they have been lying on a beach).
    8. Pardew says our Purple players (the ones that haven’t been sold) are all back at their best and never been fitter.
    9. Newcastle end up buying a couple of players who you’ve never heard of unless you watch all the European leagues via a massive satellite dish on your roof.
    10. However, the two players Newcastle buy may not be the ones we desperately needed but they were available at a great price that couldn’t be missed.
    11. Season starts and only a couple of injuries in key positions mean Newcastle have to play Williamson/Shola/Gosling/Obertan/whoever else is rubbish and still at the club due to not buying players.
    12. Pardew says he can’t believe Newcastle’s terrible luck with injuries…..
    13. The end!

I think people are right to feel pessimistic regarding the upcoming season and towards our transfer activity this window.

However the season only ended two weeks ago and there is a whole summer for signings to be made. As it's the close season and there are no games the board can be a bit slow, so articles like this help it keep ticking over in my opinion and stir up a debate about a pretty much non issue.

No quotes attributed to the article and pretty much a journalist trying to create a story when there isn't one in order to sell papers.

Always the same this time of season. Journos do a load of guess work to fill up some column inches. The managers are on holiday so there are no interviews, the games are finished and so on. Still got to sell the paper! They pick on emotive subjects for people.

Taking these sort of articles as some sort of depressing insight into our transfer policy is foolish at best. As Sir Bobby says, and ACS probably intended, its just discussed to stir a bit of debate. Nobody should be taking it too seriously or as somehow factual. People are nervous about the summer because of last summer and the cock up we made. I personally think quality not qunatity is the way to go! Its about getting a better balance in the squad i.e. attacking options and upgrading in certain areas. I expect the numbers to remain roughly the same and don't have a problem with it.

Pardew will identify the targets with the help of his scouting team and hopefully we'll have a sensible amount of turnover in the squad to improve and balance. You couldn't be sure we will do the necessary but the was said prior to the January window............

Micah Richards has been linked, would be welcome because he has years, experience and ability and is also British. We could do with at least 8 new signings because the majority of the current crop are lacking, Tim Krul is athletic and agile but can't catch can't kick, Steven Taylor is ill disciplined and with poor focus, Davide Santon can't track, defend and is actually average going forward, Hatem Ben Arfa just refuses to make a one touch pass and dribbles until he loses possession, Moussa Sissoko is physically astounding but doesn't have the technical attributes to reach the top, Papiss Cisse has an awful first touch, can't keep the ball or run with the ball. I'd like to see Karl Darlow, Micah Richards, Aaron Cresswell, Will Hughes, Ryan Gauld and Jordan Rhodes.
