Has anyone else noticed how many great goals we've scored already this season? Scotland's strike on Saturday was yet another one from outside the box. In the last few seasons goals like these were three or four times a season events. One thing you can't say about this side is that they are lacking any confidence in front of goal.

Sort out that backline and we have a recipe for success.

Long shots always look awesome, but (no intended pun here) are also hit and miss, its good we have confidence to shoot from there but are we being restricted to long shots because we cant get in behind? what happens if and when the long shots start going wide more often?

This is far from a criticism of the team, especially as i have only been able to watch the highlights so far this season. So for the people who have watched the games, Have the long shots been a successful last resort or are they of real intention and quality and a useful addition to our attack?

In general i define a quality goal as one that carves open the defence, if we can keep a good mix of long shots and well worked goals with a confident defense a consistent play-off push is the minimum we can expect.

Both of our goals were great, fully accepting the wicked deflection for Andrews, but Bullard's 2 set piece free kicks were not things of great beauty and he needs a bit of shooting practice! We do have the personnel now to take some long range pots at goal and that's great but, I still would love to see us popping them in at will from inside the 6 yard box 'a la Gary Lineker'! Talking of goals; how about the quality of the Man U goals this weekend though - just wow!

Scotlands goal was brilliant, not just the finish but the way he made the space for himself. The actual shots for Andrews goals have been impressive but I think the fact that they landed 'at him' (right place, right time) helped. Unfortunately for every long range goal your likely to have 3 or 4 that go sailing miles over (Mr Bullard take note!!) but as long as we keep creating chances then the likelihood is that some will go in.

Always useful to have players popping up and acting at the right place at the right time though Tractorbhoy

Exciting times for lovers of a few speccy goals at PR, we have players throughout midfield and up front who are capable of scoring some goal eye candy plus two full backs who can score. If we could learn to play football better, keep possesion and defend as a team we would be certs for the play offs at least.

Mike true, I didnt mean to knock him, just trying to suggest that a few of them have had more than a touch of fortune for being in the right place at the right time over a decent team build up.
Dangerous, Lightning has already struck 4 times!
