I know this is a seperate thread, but this deserves it's own thread.

Well done Beth on volunteering/working at the paralympics.

Much better than the Olympics, IMHO.

    The basketball games are amazing.

Ok 1979...really nice thought, but I am somewhat embarrassed. This is not in the same league as Judo being a torchbearer, Judo has given up his time to coach kids for years, with not much reward other than the satisfaction of getting kids to enjoy and excel at a sport.

I am an Olympic nut, so when the chance came to volunteer I jumped at it...I offered my services for either the Olympics or the Parlympics....I think less people want to do the Paralympics, so I got the Parlympics and even better they offered me a driving position. So of all the volunteer jobs one could get driving is definately one of the better ones!!! (Fallen on my feet again)....I get my own series3 BMW for three and a bit weeks, I have never owned anything as good as that!

So thank you for the thread but I really don't deserve it. ..............and anyway you lot (and especially Brixton) will be cursing me specifically when the whole of London gets gridlocked because of the Olympic Network Road system....sorry, not entirely my fault!

I once helped an old lady across the road. I'm pretty sure she wanted to cross.

Beth, you are giving up your time to volunteer to help run the Paralympic games, that definatley deserves a thread!

You deserve it as much as others have kindly said I did, think how many people are going to watch the games, and you are going to play a part in making that happen. Without you people wont be able to get to the events!

Out of interest, who do you drive? Competitors/Public/Officials?

Cheers Judo...who I drive?...well not real competitors they go on buses, and you need a PSV licence for that ( and the drivers are hired and paid for the job) ....and not joe public, they make their own way around.

So I drive nearly everyone else .....officials, media, coaches, corporate clients and their guests(sorry), competitors in a media context, Olympic officials, British/UK officials, MPs. To be honest I do not really know...but there are more of us than the PSVs and the "chauffeurs" who drive only one client e.g. Seb Coe. So we will be treated as a VIP taxi...so I am hoping for someone good...Becks, Linford Christie, Stuart Pearce, Justin Bieber (sorry that was a joke)...will let you know when it is all over.

To be honest I have no idea how I got the job...I applied to help run the drug testing service, something I am actually suited for...this is what was offered.!!!

Enjoy it, Beth. Should be a great experience. If you get caught in a queue on the M4, why not drug test your passengers while you're waiting? If you get a positive on Usain Bolt, your name will go down in history...
